Job Summary:

Associate Artist working independently to create and document all aspects of game creation, from reel symbol sets to interface layouts to fonts. Staff Artists must be adept at layout, rendering, and graphic design, and demonstrate strong knowledge of color theory. Staff Artists should already be well-versed in the Adobe Creative Suite, and are expected to continually learn new software skills.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create/modify game instruction screens ("Pays/Help") per standardized documentation

  • Translate art assets using provided documentation (second-language skills not required)

  • Create or reproduce art while:

  • Maintaining excellent art quality

  • Documenting all newly created assets

  • Demonstrate excellent file structure and organization

  • Work closely with Senior Artists, Linguists, and Game Designers to produce high-quality art in an iterative process

  • Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism at all times:

  • Follow directions and demonstrate knowledge with a high degree of accountability

  • Accept and incorporate constructive team member feedback

  • Manage time efficiently

  • Continually improve software expertise through company training, independent study, and team member collaboration

Position Requirements

Education:

Bachelor of Arts in art/animation

Required Experience:
0-1 year previous experience in a production or collegiate environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Critical thinking skills an absolute must in this fast-paced, high-output team

  • Excellent drawing and rendering abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and After Effects

  • Working knowledge of MS Office

  • Ability to create art and animation for all game aspects (screen layout, symbol sets, etc.) with minimal guidance

  • Understand how to design art for various themes and platforms

Preferred, but not required:

  • Typography knowledge

  • Confluence (or similar wiki creation/navigation)

  • Portfolio required with application:

  • Emphasis on graphic design/layout samples

  • Sketch work (sketchbook or bound Xeroxes)

  • Digital sample of working-file organization

o Layered Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects files

o Supplemental work (thumbnails; pre-visuals for polished portfolio pieces, etc.)

  • Samples from other creative disciplines, if available (animation, 3D, etc.)
