THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL
Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Associate Fire Service Technician with programming, troubleshooting, and repair capabilities and experience. This position will work closely with our service team, and clients to ensure our critical life safety systems are repaired in an efficient manner to maintain their overall performance. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of system troubleshooting and repair. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are important elements of the position.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)
Assist in the troubleshooting and repairing fire and life safety systems, including conventional and addressable solutions.
Use a variety of troubleshooting tools to analyze systems and detect fault conditions.
Ensure maximum system detection and alarm coverage when effecting repairs.
Assist in the production of repair reports in accordance with NFPA for customer acceptance and billing information.
Program systems via laptop computers.
Assist in managing vehicle inventory and repair tools.
Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
Comply with standards and procedures of industry and Sciens safety programs/policies.
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU
High school diploma or equivalent.
Up to two years of experience in Fire Service Technician role within the fire-life safety industry.
Knowledge of current fire alarm systems.
Possess a basic understanding of fire alarm circuit integrity and how to troubleshoot for circuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions.
Possess a basic understanding of how to program and repair fire alarm systems using a laptop computer.
Knowledge of NFPA 72 code requirements.
Ability to read fire system design drawings.
Ability to learn and safely use standard trade tools.
Ability to travel occasionally overnight as needed.
Ability and desire to obtain NICET Level I.
You possess state-required minimum certifications.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
Knowledge of OSHA and able to obtain OSHA 10 certifications.
Good organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.
Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Valid driver's license & reliable transportation.
