ESS is hiring a motivated Associate Field Service Engineer-Sacramento to perform customer installs, repairs, and maintenance of our cutting-edge solution that can last twice as long as lithium and uses none of the harmful rare earth metals. Join our team in the greater Portland, Oregon area and be ready to travel to customer sites for this exciting role!

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare project plans, schedules and scopes of work and adhere to safety policies and guidelines.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues logically.

  • Program control systems using touchscreens and computers.

  • Assist with system setup and demonstrate its proper functioning to owner's representatives.

  • Educate customers on proper equipment use, maintenance, and safety guidelines.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, providing status reports before, during, and after service calls.

  • Identify potential sales opportunities and report them to the sales staff.

  • Manage onsite activities to perform work on time and within budget to help ensure specified revenue targets and customer satisfaction (CAS) goals are met.

  • Interact with customers to offer service contracts and other products, resolving issues and improving processes.

  • Follow reporting responsibilities for Remote Service Dispatch, Escalation, Field Problem Report, and Field Service Report submissions.

  • Document actions taken on the jobsite and communicate with site owners for ongoing maintenance.

  • Maintain technical competency through training and staying updated on new products, markets, customers, and competitors.

  • Manage travel expenses following ESS policies and guidelines.

  • Display professionalism, understanding, tact, fairness, and technical knowledge in all customer interactions.

  • Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, and nonconformance issues.

  • Perform data entry and analysis to ensure optimal performance.

  • Uphold ESS culture, standards, policies, procedures, and maintain a clean work area.

What you bring to the table:

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or other Engineering disciplines.

  • Experience as a Field Service Engineer who is a leader, collaborator, team builder, problem solver and an effective communicator.

  • Prior startup and commissioning experience in energy storage, HVAC, electrical or similar industries.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally. International travel deployments are typically between 3 - 6 weeks per deployment.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with dynamic daily priorities.

  • Experience with new products being introduced into the field at scale.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted and work wide ranging ambient conditions based on where ESS products are deployed.

  • Ability to follow job required Standards and Safety Protocols, and according to OSHA and applicable regulations pre-defined processes.

  • Experience & knowledge necessary to safely work with and measure voltages ranging between low voltage controls to 1,000 volts DC.

  • Experience in a customer-facing role (preferred).

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screenings required for employment and access to sites including by not limited to Federal, State, TSA and Military.

Nice to see:

  • Working experience with large industrial systems, batteries, or fuel cell systems (preferred).

  • Current first aid/CPR card, OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.

  • Certified to operate forklifts and telehandlers.
