Job Description:

Field Technician providing technical support for the installation, grooming, operation, maintenance, and modification of complex electronic systems of various types with installations on land and sea-based platforms. Systems include Radar, RF Instrumentation, Satellite Communication, Data Recording, System Interfaces and Software Operating Systems.

Routinely requires both near and long-distance travel in order to provide contracted services on a varying schedule. Requires supporting various tasking at the home location when not on travel, to include inventory control, production builds, repairs, systems grooming, on-the-job training, mentoring others, maintaining log books, filing reports, and other tasking as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Performing troubleshooting and repair down to sub-system and component level.

  • Interfacing with other contractor representatives and engineers to provide technical expertise to resolve technical problems

  • Preparing documentation for all work performed

  • Providing support for engineers in the design and production of new systems

  • Operating the Flight Test Support System during Navy missions

  • Writing instructions and perform system modifications and proofing

  • Completing all required training courses and maintaining required certifications


  • Minimum of five years of electronics / technical experience in test and operations positions

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time as required

  • Willingness and ability to support onboard surface and subsurface vessels at sea as required

  • Willingness and ability to climb and work on elevated platforms

  • Strong ability to communicate both written and verbally

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

  • Ability to follow documented procedures

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience

  • Secret Clearance required

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in SSBN and/or SWS Flight Test operations.

  • Use of RF/satellite communications/data recording systems

  • Networking skills (Cisco Certification desired)

  • Ability to properly use analog and digital test equipment to troubleshoot, test and/or validate complex electronic systems

  • Electronic troubleshooting and repair with quality assurance workmanship skills and

  • IPC-610/620 and J-STD certifications preferred

  • Ability to operate independently with little to no supervision
