Associate Faculty (PT-Faculty): Bachelor of Applied Science, Integrated Healthcare Management Department

SALARY: Five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $5,865.82

LOCATION: Lynnwood, Washington

DESCRIPTION: Edmonds College is recruiting associate faculty to teach in the interdisciplinary Bachelor of Applied Science program in Integrated Healthcare Management (IHCM). Associate faculty will teach upper division courses that integrate and build on skills and knowledge developed from a variety of professional disciplines including allied health professions such as medical assisting, surgical technology and physical therapy assistant, behavioral health professions such as Substance Use Disorder Professionals (SUDP) and mental health technicians, and medical administrative professions such as medical coders and medical administrative assistants. Subject areas may include leadership, trauma informed management and interprofessional collaboration among others. Courses are taught in a flexible learning mode that includes in person and online options, and synchronous classes typically meet in the evenings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a health or human services discipline such as public health, nursing, physician assistant, social work, or health care administration; or Master's degree in a related field such as management, education, or organizational development with an undergraduate degree or experience in a clinical healthcare field conferred prior to the start of employment.

  • Direct experience with patients or clients seeking healthcare services.

  • Evidence of successful college-level teaching experience in health services or management in health and human services with students from a wide range of backgrounds and levels of preparation.

  • Excellent speaking, writing, listening, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.

  • Good technology skills and familiarity with the Internet and communicating online.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with Canvas or other online learning management systems.

  • Ability to adapt curriculum to the needs of synchronous and asynchronous learners, and effectively manage classes with in person and remote participants.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in a classroom which requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors typically use a personal computer in the work environment.

COMPENSATION:

Work schedule is based on an eleven week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $5,865.82 at Step A.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.

  • Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

  • All new positions are contingent upon funding.
