Associate Faculty Pool, Engineering (PT Faculty)

LOCATION: Lynnwood Washington

The Engineering department at Edmonds College is seeking student-centered associate faculty for part-time teaching positions. Applicants with multicultural experience and/or backgrounds, which will add cultural richness and diversity to Edmonds College, are encouraged to apply.

DESCRIPTION:

In this position, you will have the opportunity to prepare and teach courses for the Edmonds College Engineering department, facilitate student learning by using a variety of formats including lecture, discussion, hands-on labs, online resources, and collaborative learning, and develop and implement procedures and techniques to assess individual student learning. The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of curriculum that is culturally responsive to the students it serves.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To succeed in this role, you will need either a Master's degree in Engineering or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with significant industry experience. You will also need teaching experience and the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.

Examples of teaching experience might include teaching at the university, college, or high school level or a facilitator/trainer position in a professional environment. We are also seeking candidates that are committed to creating an inclusive learning environment, value reflecting on personal and professional growth, and advancing practices that lead to equitable outcomes.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in a classroom which requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors typically use a personal computer in the work environment.

COMPENSATION:

Work schedule is based on an eleven week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $5,865.82 at Step A.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.

  • Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

  • All new positions are contingent upon funding.

  • At this time, Edmonds College does not sponsor H1-B Visas.

  • Complete, sign, and submit Declaration Regarding Sexual Misconduct
