Main Responsibilities:

  • Conducts or participates in technically demanding projects within specific area or field.

  • Works independently or in collaboration w/others.

  • Projects are assigned by supervisor who is a higher-level scientist or manager.

  • Support scale-up and technology transfer of manufacturing processes to commercial facility process performance monitoring; implementation of process improvement strategies; and development of process models

  • Position is a hands-on, laboratory-based, role and/or troubleshoot process and equipment issues arising on the manufacturing floor.

  • Makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results.

  • Prepares precise technical reports summaries, protocols, quantitative analyses, and maintains appropriate documentation.

  • Presents findings at internal meetings and may present at external scientific meetings.

  • Serves as a major contributor to preparation of documents.

  • Serves as mentor and positive role model to other lab personnel.

  • Could have supervisory responsibility.

  • Full use and application of principles, theories, concepts and techniques in a limited area or field.

  • Provides solutions to a variety of problems of diverse scope involving basic scientific and engineering principles.

  • Exercises significant technical discretion in design, execution and interpretation, and pursues new experiments as a result of experimental outcomes.

  • Works under general supervision to meet project goals and generally conceives of the approach.

  • Frequently (regularly) develops new methods, technologies, and processes when necessary for project advancement.

  • Work is reviewed for soundness of technical approach.

  • Recommendations consistently result in project advancement.

  • Contributes to technology development or support programs.

  • Functions effectively as a member of one or more project teams.

  • Primary interaction is within the organization.

  • Has some internal customer or outside supplier contacts on routine and non-routine matters.

  • Must establish working relationships and credibility with department members and others within the company and may establish working relationships and credibility with individuals outside the company.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Science, Engineering or related field of study
  • 8-10 years of experience with BS
  • 5-8 years of experience with MS

VIEW JOBS 1/28/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-27T00:00 11 LOCATION OF POSITION MSD, Frederick Campus, 101 Clarke Place, Frederick, MD 21705 Main Purpose of Job This position will be responsible for the administration, management and implementation of the personnel functions within the rules and regulations set for all Human Resource transactions. POSITION DUTIES Run and sort payroll reports on a weekly basis. Review for accuracy and look for possible payroll errors. Inspect for discrepancies and communicate with supervisor or employees as necessary to make corrections. Review for proper coding of FMLA/chronic illness, accident leave, earned comp time, and earned holidays; verify that supervisors have approved time submissions in a timely manner, reconcile leave requests and overtime/comp requests to approved time and overtime/comp time to approved timesheet. Contact supervisors who need to make corrections/adjustments or approve timesheets. Assist employees or managers who have problems entering or approving time in Workday. This position is also responsible to assist with onboarding of new employees, maintain personnel files, and assist with health benefits enrollment and/or changes, as well as processing Workers Comp Claims and meeting with employees in regards to Retirement paperwork. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Three years of general clerical or administrative support experience at least one year of which must have been paraprofessional personnel experience involving the application of public sector procedures, policies, rules and regulations to specific employment actions. Appropriate paraprofessional personnel experience should have included responsibility for activities such as, preparing and maintaining employment records, calculating salaries, applying and interpreting rules and policies, preparing personnel-related reports, counseling employees regarding benefits and obligations, and responding to inquiries concerning employment actions. Notes: 1. One additional year of paraprofessional personnel experience as defined above may be substituted for one year of general clerical or administrative support experience. 2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in human resources assistance classification or human resources assistance specialty codes in the human resources management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with Workday or similar HRIS program preferred. Notary Preferred.
