Research, Development, Quality & Innovation

In Research, Development, Quality & Innovation (RDQI), your skills can be the special ingredient that brings our brands to life. As part of a fantastic team of scientists, engineers and nutritionists, you'll work tirelessly on product design or development, process development, quality, nutrition, sensory and food safety aspects to ensure we deliver a consistent, delightful consumer experience. This position is for a process developer with 1-3 years of experience supporting the NA Region Candy_Jellies Process/product Development. Projects will focus on Innovation, Core process development & optimization, and quality improvement. The candidate will be responsible for the process development, optimization, and commercialization of new starch based candy products related to the Candy category. This position allows the candidate to develop and drive growth opportunities within the Innovation group. This position will have the opportunity to work on multiple brands across and build strong relationships across R&D, with suppliers, Co-manufacturers, the Business, Research, etc.

The Candidate will be responsible for leading or supporting designing, planning and execution of experiments for bench top, pilot plant and plant trials. They must also develop and manage project plans and timelines insuring that projects are delivered on time. Candidates should possess sound technical and project management skills, and effective communication skills.

The Candidate must be able to assess testing plans, gather and analyze data and make recommendations based on findings. While the candidate will be a member of a new products team, they will need to be able to lead their assigned projects and collaborate with cross functional team members.

The Candidate must possess some experience in ingredient functionality, formulation, and commercialization. The individual must be able to write detailed process specifications and project reports and is able to support Quality and Manufacturing needs as it relates to their projects.
1-2 years of food product development experience is preferably.

Primary responsibilities and % of time

  • Support development and execution of growth, brand value, quality improvement launches from bench prototyping to commercialization of assigned project(s) 70%
  • Assist in pipeline scoping and technical assessment of future innovation projects & ideas 15%
  • Develop, update and maintain process/ product specification of assigned projects 10%
  • Support assessment of IP strategy, FTO and complete required project documentation as it relates to projects 5 %

Education Level

Bachelor's Degree (4 Yr)

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with proven track record of successful product launches and product & process development technology, preferably Food Industry.

  • Strong Engineering and process Knowledge with some basic understanding of Food Science , Food Chemistry within the candy category

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to effectively communicate to various levels within the organization

This role will mainly support cross category discovery platforms but may be called upon to flex to other areas of CS as business needs dictate. * The role contributes to the planning and implementation of assigned research programs/projects that lead to actionable business results. * The role requires the jobholder to work under a moderate degree of autonomy to plan and conduct independent projects as a fully engaged cross-functional partner interacting with senior leaders as required to align on research deliverables. * The jobholder develops project objectives and strategies independently in response to business needs, executing against same and recommending action plans to implement key findings. * The jobholder is able to solve complex problems and get things done through both formal and informal channels. * The jobholder significantly impacts the directions/quality of work done by other technical people and delivers expert technical knowledge representing the function. * The jobholder interacts regularly with key stakeholders and may direct activities of junior professionals and/or temporary staff while completing assignments. * The jobholder interacts with CS/MDLZ senior leaders and professionals outside the company at professional meetings.
