Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks an Associate Electronics Engineer to join our team in Canoga Park, California (Los Angeles area).

In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of special test equipment for military and space Avionics products. The candidate will be developing technical specification, performing electronics design, fabrication and integration and test activities for the Avionics Integration & Test Department, as well as developing software for custom designed Avionics test equipment products. The ideal candidate should have had exposure to analog and digital design activities have hands-on experience in an electronics laboratory environment and experience in a test software programming language such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Visual Basic, or C++.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
40% - Under supervision of senior engineering staff, design and develop test equipment hardware and software designs for testing flight level avionics controllers, sensors, power electronics and the associated cabling.
20% - Develop specifications and design documentation associated with avionics test equipment hardware and software designs.
20% - Support the integration and verification of avionics test equipment designs in an electronics laboratory environment.
20% - Support the coordination and presentation of avionics test equipment design, manufacturing and integration activities with other internal organizations such as Program Management, Avionics Design, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with MS Office software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) required.

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of electronic test equipment hardware and controlling software is desired.

  • Six months to 1 year related experience preferred.

  • Experience with C programming language, LabVIEW, LabWindows, Test Stand is desirable.

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto.

May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

This entry-level engineer will work directly with and under supervision of Senior Electrical Systems and Design Engineers contributing to realization of state-of-the-art Space Power Electronics Systems. The position requires understanding of Electrical Engineering design principles with keen interest in applying the understanding of the basic scientific principles and concepts for design and synthesis of Avionics products for aerospace industry. Working in a team environment and following established policies and procedures the candidate will be contributing in the following areas: * Transformation of the Customer/stakeholder expectations into a problem definition and a complete set of technical requirements at system, subsystem and component levels. * Defining product breakdown structure and establishing requirements process flow for the system under development. * Support formulation of product development lifecycle strategies consisting of requirements capture, requirement management and flowdown, preliminary design, critical design, product realization, design verification testing, system integration, qualification and certification. Ensure that design solution complies with stakeholder requirements and expectations. * Anticipate technical risk, define mitigation plans, and stay abreast of technology advancement. * On an as needed basis support the Avionics Engineering for generation of technical proposals.
