This position will work within the Technical Services group and be primarily responsible for the process transfers of all of Atara's cell therapy products and/or vectors. This role will be responsible for working within a cross functional group to Sheppard Atara's immunotherapy candidates from early stage First in Human clinical trials to late stage commercial validation and through regulatory approval. The Technology Transfer Associate Engineer will provide support for the Process Team and assemble documentation that will support the process transfers.
The Technology Transfer Associate Engineer will be adept at working in a dynamic environment while being nimble, creative, and innovative in order to adjust a program's direction to achieve Atara's goals. The incumbent will be expected to provide input into the process development and characterization studies, organize and document results, compile and review process data, and communicate and summarize those findings to the Technology Transfer or Process Team.

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA
The candidate will apply basic manufacturing process knowledge and understanding to help facilitate and support the process development activities related to the process transfers of Atara's cell therapy products as they are related to any/all scale up or scale out activities.
Partner with team members of a cross functional team while also providing support to define, gather, document, and help assemble the most comprehensive process transfer package from the available resources and current data to help the team achieve their goals.
Assist the cross functional team working towards the commercialization of Atara's cell therapy products with the objective of delivering the highest quality transfer documents with the available information and resources.
Coordinate and help establish key data sets for process parameters/trends that will help form the basis of process performance parameters and in-process trend tracking during run execution.
Compile data and requirements needed to help define the operational parameters targets and boundaries for the execution of a manufacturing process.
Contribute to the development of process improvements and efficiencies. Look for opportunities to apply previous experience to cell therapy process improvements to achieve and improve manufacturing excellence. Perform process analysis to determine key risks and implement steps that would help mitigate any negative impacts to process performance.
Work with process development scientist to take steps towards defining new cell therapy manufacturing processes that will enhance process robustness, repeatability, product quality, yield, and reduce our cost of goods per batch.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a Life Sciences related discipline; Molecular and/or Cell Biology, Protein Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering. Incumbent will have a bachelor's degree with a 2+ years of industry related experience
Candidate will have a working knowledge and understanding of scientific principals as they pertain to cell culture immunotherapy processes.
The preferred candidate will have a combination of direct experience related to mammalian cell culture. Cell culture experience may range from cell therapy processes to the cultivation of CHO based therapeutics in a process development, pilot scale, and/or commercial scale setting.
