The Boeing Engineering, Test and Technology division is seeking an Electronic Design Engineer to execute digital and analog circuit and power supply design for the Boeing Avionics Power and Embedded Controls Electronic Products team located in Huntsville, AL. The Power and Embedded Controls Team develop Electronic Designs, build, test and deliver Electronic/Electrical products and provide Engineering solutions for a variety of the company's government and commercial programs across the world, including commercial and government avionics, space exploration, and multiple military programs. The team is responsible for Electrical / Electronic Hardware, Test Equipment, Avionics, Smart Battery System and Wire Harness Design in the areas of Embedded Firmware Design, Circuit Design, Schematic Capture, Board Layout, Circuit Simulation and C++ Programming.

Multiple positions open for levels 1 - 2

Position Responsibilities / Duties will include (but are not limited to):

Perform Electronics Design and Analysis at the Circuit Card and Unit level to achieve the goals and satisfy the requirements of our commercial (Boeing Commercial Aircraft), military (DoD) and manned space (NASA) customers. Service and Support the entire life cycle from requirements derivation through design/development & test up to and beyond manufacture and delivery of hardware unto the most awe inspiring vehicles/platforms the world has ever seen. Work with subject matter experts to grow your skillset from novice to expert under the guidance of some of the best Electrical Engineers Boeing has to offer. Present designs, analysis and insights to peers, leads and management for implementation into Hardware that you create with the potential for a Patent or two along the way.

  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design & power supplies

  • Perform Schematics capture, PCB design & layout with Mentor Graphics or other PCB design software

  • Perform PCB hardware design using micro controller units & FPGA devices

  • Execute PCB design & PCB assembly verification, debug, troubleshooting & repair

  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) utilization at PCB design & layout

  • Develop FPGA & CPLD design implementation for custom designed boards

  • Familiar with DO-254 HW Development

  • Experience with Xilinx, Altera or other FPGA products

  • Programming experience in C/C++, C#, Java, Visual Basic

  • Experience with Lab View programming

  • Knowledge of Matlab, PSPICE and Linux

  • Custom electronic design of functional test hardware

  • Custom electrical design of interface units for automatic test equipment

  • Writing of digital & analog test programs

  • Writing of custom functional tests/scripts for automated test applications

  • Test fixture design, software verification & debug

  • Experience with and knowledge of lab measurement instruments

  • Knowledge of SMT manufacturing processes

  • Electronics manufacturing process layout design

  • Knowledge of electronic/electrical systems and components including the requirements, operating principles, design variables, performance, and key interfaces.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • Classroom or work related experience with electrical circuit design and electrical schematic analysis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in analog and digital electrical design

  • Experience with Schematics capture, PCB design, layout and routing with Mentor Graphics or another PCB design suite

Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
