Responsibilities
	
Work in a fast-paced environment, participating and leading engineering teams designing the next generation robotic systems for the U.S. Military. 	
PCB Design, high speed, power electronics, and motor controller design experience is a plus.	
Tasks may include support of existing systems, PCB design, cable design, or associated documentation tasks. 	
Supporting the development of a new system to integration of a new or existing load on an existing system	
Candidates will design and support various analog / digital / mixed-signal circuits as well as cable design for robot platforms and/or their associated control stations. . 	
Associate electrical engineers frequently develop test plans and perform testing of electrical and system designs as well as participate in field data collection and experimentation, analysis, and reporting. 	
Some (< 15%) travel to customer sites may be required to support testing and repair activities.
Required Qualifications
	
B.S. In Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering plus 0-2 years experience	
Strong knowledge and experience in Electrical Engineering	
Analog, digital, and mixed signal circuit design	
Cable assembly and wire harness design experience	
U.S. Citizenship
Desired Qualifications
	
Prior work in the field of robotics	
Power electronics design experience	
Motor controller design experience	
Working knowledge of C / C++, & Visual C#	
Experience with field testing robotic systems	
Knowledge and experience with DOD, SAE, IEEE, and/or IPC standards	
Experience with bus protocols such as CAN, SPI, RS232, I2C, USB, & Ethernet	
PCB design experience

Areas of mechanical design expertise include large structures, composite structures, highly efficient lightweight structures, mechanisms, optomechanical systems, electro-optic systems, electronics packaging, and cabling. Engineers from the group are critical to all aspects of program execution beginning with conceptual design, continuing through detail design, system integration and test, and concluding with environmentaland performance testing. The group is the Engineering Division's center for 3D computer-aided design and configuration management. Example projects include airborne and space-based laser communications systems, biological agent detectors and identifiers, and large radar antenna systems. Electrical Design Specialist Lincoln Laboratory is a fast paced, innovative, research and development environment with a reputation for excellence in the production of unique, prototype systems critical to national security. The Mechanical Engineering Group has extensive capabilities necessary for the design of undersea, ground, airborne and space systems which allow us to tackle a wide range of technical challenges including large structures, space systems, and high precision optical systems. The group is also the Engineering Division's center for CAD and data management. The successful candidate will: * Design system and unit level electrical interconnection and power distribution schemes in collaboration with project teams * Perform basic design calculations, select appropriate components and hardware * Prepare design concepts, block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable/harness fabrication drawings utilizing 2D and 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software * Support part procurement, fabrication and system level integration The preferred candidate will: * Possess knowledge of electronic design for aerospace applications, including connector selection, wire types/sizes/derating, voltage drops, electro-mechanical packaging, electrical fabrication & assembly techniques. * Possess knowledge of and NASA specifications, Military, ASME & IEEE standards * Possess knowledge of PDM (Product Data Management) and/or PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software Design Specialists in the Mechanical Engineering Group require little supervision and perform assignments with creative ability, resourcefulness, and originality. Design Specialists must take initiative and be thorough and detailed. They must work effectively with individuals from various groups and at many levels of the organization. They must also demonstrate effective communication skills.
