Job Title: Associate Education and Research Librarian

Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:

The Education and Research Librarian will develop, implement, coordinate, promote, assess, and expand an innovative and effective library education program, in support of research, scholarship, education, and patient care. The Education Librarian will provide general information, research services, and other services that support the mission of City of Hope.

  • Coordinate education programs with librarians, the Bioinformatics Core, Clinical Informatics groups, and the graduate school at City of Hope.

  • Provide instructional support for City of Hope faculty, health care professionals, and students. Proactively seek partners to promote and integrate educational programs into academic and health care initiatives.

  • Deliver course content to support teaching and learning by developing accessible teaching and learning objects, including but not limited to web-based tutorials, instructional videos, research guides, and web sites.

  • Integrate e-learning into the course management system and the curricula of the graduate school and other educational programs.

  • Collaborate with information technology and informatics groups at City of Hope to implement new technologies to improve, and assess educational programs.

  • Engage with faculty, health care professionals, researchers, and students to understand the research, information, and educational programs of the City of Hope community and strengthen library support for these programs.

  • Guide faculty, health care professionals, researchers, and students in the effective use of library services and resources to support biomedical research, evidence-based practice and clinical decision support.

  • Provide in-depth research consultations for individuals and groups.

  • Contribute to the broader outreach programs of the library.

Minimum Education:

  • MLS or MLIS from and ALA-accredited program or foreign equivalent.

Preferred Experience:

  • Two years of related experience working in an academic, health sciences, or biomedical library.

  • Experience teaching at the college level.

  • Experience using biomedical and health sciences databases.

  • Experience designing and teaching online courses.

Requisition 15066 Research Associate I | Department of Surgery Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, or designee, the Research Associate I performs a variety of routine and increasingly complex research experiments. Essential Functions: * Utilizing laboratory equipment and established protocols, performs a variety of research experiments. Records and validates results for accuracy and completeness. * May modify protocols * Write standard operating procedures and reports. * Maintains records of work performed including results and methodology; utilizing records may calculate, graph and compile data. * Develops techniques and expertise in one or more areas relevant to laboratory research project. * Ensures that all laboratory activities are carried out in compliance with safety procedures and guidelines in handling, storage and disposal of materials.
