Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) seeks an experienced Editor who is detail-oriented and customer-focused to join our Research & Development department. You will help ensure high-quality material, including but not limited to technical papers, proposals, and product manuals, is provided to both internal and external customers. This role also provides a rewarding opportunity to help others improve their writing styles and techniques. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.Proofread, edit, and format presentations, documents, manuals, guides, and/or other published material.

2.Develop and maintain a high skill level in editing, proofreading, and producing technical documentation.

3.Collaborate with authors, reviewers, and others to edit deliverables, plan projects, and meet deadlines.

4.Follow established work instructions, guidelines, and procedures.

5.Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

6.Understand. Create. Simplify.

7.Other duties as assigned.

As an Editor, a typical day might include the following:

  • Reviewing a technical document, calling the author's attention to unclear passages and making suggestions for improvements.

  • Proofreading an internal memo.

  • Conferring with an author about how to improve the clarity and style of a document.

  • Developing a short presentation on some aspect of good writing.

  • Answering questions about English usage.

Pay Range Data:

$25.00 - $37.70 USD Hourly. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
