Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Global Education, this 12-month, full-time position oversees Elon's signature Study USA programs and other global experiential learning opportunities offered through and in coordination with the GEC, currently with hubs in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and Charlotte, NC.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Master's Degree required with a preference of 3 or more years of professional employment in a higher education, or equivalent setting.

Preferred Education and Experience

For the Associate Director title, 3 to 6 years of professional employment in a higher education or equivalent setting is preferred.

For the Director title, there is a preference for 6 or more years of professional employment in a higher education, or equivalent setting.

Required Other Training, Certifications, or Licensing

Job Duties

  • Oversight of Study USA

  • Collaborate with academic units to create and expand pathways for students to academically progress through participation in Study USA.

  • Drive the integration of inclusive and equitable practices across Study USA semester and summer programs.

  • Develop and Coordinate a holistic and robust professional development program with the Student Professional Development Center (SPDC), National Campuses team, and other stakeholders.

  • Manage School of Record relationship with The Washington Center.

  • Propose and manage Study USA budgets in coordination with the GEC Business Manager.

  • Oversee marketing and outreach for Study USA programs, in coordination with Global Experiential Learning Coordinator, other GEC and National Campuses staff.

  • Contribute to projects and planning related to experiential learning on campus and at centers, including coordination with Student Life on reporting for the Elon Experiences Transcript (EET)

  • Supervise one full-time staff member.

  • Advise students on program selection for Study USA program centers and short-term programs.

  • Serve as health and safety point of contact in the GEC for Study USA and risk management programs, collaborating with others in the GEC and across campus.

  • Program Management

  • Serve as the program manager for assigned programs including Elon in LA.

  • Implement inclusive and equitable practices for assigned programs including Elon in LA.

  • Liaise with partner institutions sending students to the LA program, including assisting with the development of MoUs and other contracts, and in providing support for external students.

  • Develop and implement series of pre-departure workshops and a re-entry experience for students on assigned programs.

  • Provide crisis management support and counseling for students in assigned programs.

  • Advise students on Study USA and other GEC programs.

  • Responsible for data collection and analysis, in coordination with others in the GEC.

  • Create and maintain records of internships, alumni, and student resources, in coordination with the Student Professional Development Center, Alumni Office, and Student Affairs.

  • Provide support to Elon program faculty and staff throughout program duration.

  • Develop and conduct a series of predeparture workshops and a reentry experience for students.

  • Support Global Experiential Learning

  • Support other global experiential learning initiatives within reporting line, currently non-Elon petitions and global internships.
