Associate Director, Transfer Admissions and Credit

Enrollment Services - Admissions.
Enrollment Services is responsible for admissions, financial aid, registration, student academic records, and graduation. The department operates with approximately 177 full-time and part-time employees.
Time Base/Hours/Units per Week
Full-time, 40 hours per week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Associate Director provides leadership and coordination to the Transfer Admission & Credit Evaluation Unit. Provide comprehensive enrollment related services, including admissions and transcript evaluation, transfer credit evaluation, and supervision of the personnel within the unit.
Assures prompt processing of transfer admissions applicants and develops, implements, and supervises workload planning and strategies for meeting admissions decision goals. Serves as the staff resource specialist for the communication of sensitive information to students with respect to the application process and admission to the University. This position has primary oversight over the operational aspects of accurate and timely evaluation and processing of Transfer Credit. Develops strategies to ensure operational efficiencies and resource allocation to meet the production goals of the unit.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Thorough working knowledge of and ability to apply and interpret policies governing admissions requirements. Demonstrated ability to advise and counsel students and staff regarding educational policy requirements, alternatives for resolving admissions problems, and the ability to make or recommend exceptions to policy when appropriate, and to effectively communicate denial of a student request when necessary.
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage staff with full knowledge of personnel policies and practices. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Working knowledge of automated systems.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and plan policy implementation with senior management in Enrollment Services, Center for International Education, Disabled Student Services, Athletics, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs. Demonstrated ability to work independently in carrying out the management and supervision of the Admissions and Transfer Credit Processing Unit in Enrollment Services. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage staff with full knowledge of personnel policies and practices, to work independently in carrying out the management and supervision of the Transfer Credit Evaluation Unit in Enrollment Services, and to prepare reports, monitor workload, and compile data as required to evaluate the activities and programs within the Unit.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and five years of related experience. A minimum of three years experience supervising and training admissions staff. Experience coordinating an operational unit in a large, fast paced production environment working with a diverse population of employees.
