Associate Director of Technology Commercialization will be reporting to AVP of IP & Industrial Engagement. Key responsibilities include evaluating and negotiating the portfolio of intellectual property (IP) cases. The Associate Director is responsible for working with faculty to identify potential inventions, evaluate the commercial potential, develop and execute commercialization strategies, actively market the IP, negotiate licenses, and monitor license performance.
Oversees the process of transferring UH technologies and discoveries from research institutions, such as universities or laboratories, into real-world applications or commercial products.
Negotiate, draft, and execute options and licenses with optimal deal structure with legal support including leading negotiations, providing support to the lead negotiator, and providing guidance to faculty and staff through negotiations.
Engage with industry partners, startups, and investors to build relationships to understand their needs and develop commercialization strategies for a portfolio of technologies.
Managing intellectual property, negotiating licensing agreements with industry partners, facilitating collaborations between researchers and businesses, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship within the institution.
Work closely with researchers, industry partners, legal experts, and government agencies to navigate the complex landscape of technology commercialization while ensuring that the institution's intellectual property rights are protected.
Supervise and mentor tech transfer staff, evaluate performance and provide informal and formal guidance in goals and objectives within the department.
Performs other job duties as assigned and required.

Education: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
