Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Associate Director of Supply Chain Finance is a key member of Vertex's Financial Planning & Analysis organization. The position will play a key role in developing enhanced reporting on COGS, COGS variances and Gross Margin, along with providing Opex, COGS and S&OP process improvement recommendations to Supply Chain Leadership. In addition, the role will partner with Supply Chain and R&D Finance to create COGS models for Gene Therapy products and work with Cost Accounting to establish standard costs for pipeline products.
Provides financial direction and strategic insight to Commercial Manufacturing and Supply Chain leaders. Helps to define and deliver against short term and long-term goals, including identification of key value drivers and Business KPIs.
Provides strategic decision support, influencing decisions and identifying opportunities to invest, save costs and mitigate risks on a global basis.
Leads the financial performance management process for Supply Chain and COGS (objective setting, budget vs. actuals, etc.), including the monthly forecast process, with a focus on understanding the key drivers of short-term performance and communicating the range of possible outcomes.
Partners within FP&A and with accounting, GIS, HR and other functions to ensure there is clear ownership and management of the deliverables from those teams and that Finance services are delivered seamlessly to the Commercial Manufacturing and Supply Chain organization.
Leads the financial planning process for Supply Chain and COGS (budget, forecast, long range plan) to provide meaningful forward-looking direction, to develop key scenarios, and to identify key risks/uncertainties and plans for potential mitigation.
Prepares flux analysis and COGS commentary to satisfy external audit requests and SEC filings.
Partners with the Commercial and Supply Chain organizations to recommend process improvements to the S&OP process and implement quality checks related to loading of forecast information into Rapid Response. Work with IT and Commercial to streamline loading of Commercial forecast data into Rapid Response and develop scenario planning tools to assess potential Excess/Obsolete impact of forecast changes.
Prepares cash-flow forecasts as requested by key internal customers, including Corporate Finance, Tax and Statutory Accounting.
Develops and maintains COGS models for Gene Therapy pipeline products. Works with Cost Accounting to develop standard costs for Gene Therapy products.
Ensures the financial integrity and robust corporate governance and compliance of all financial aspects for areas of responsibility.
BS Degree in Finance or Accounting.
Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical manufacturing/supply chain Finance experience preferred. Cell/Gene Therapy experience preferred.
10+ years of relevant finance or accounting experience.
Expertise with Excel and PowerPoint; Knowledge of Hyperion
Strong business acumen and judgment, and ability to influence key internal customers.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues (within or outside of finance) in sharing insights and learnings and partnering to ensure timely execution of project plans.
