Associate Director Study Medical Expert

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Director Study Medical Expert, are to:

  • Support the Global Clinical Development team;

  • Bring expertise on the indication studied;

  • Bring in depth knowledge about the study and its patients;

  • Help select the best countries to perform the trial;

  • Provide input into the project standards;

  • Support the writing of study-related publication;

  • Be the medical point of contact regarding the trial to outside bodies;

  • Defend the trial to regulators, IRBs;

  • Prepare for DSMBs, steering committee and external consultants;

  • Be able to answer and discuss in depth questions about the trial and its results;

  • Be the point of reference for the Country Medical contact person;

  • Provide consistent replies across the countries /regions regarding the trial both to IRBs and health authorities;

  • Help/ guide the country medical contact people in their study specific local tasks;

  • Keep updated medical FAQ lists for the study;

  • Be the source of expert knowledge in the therapeutic area/pathology;

  • Keep up to date with scientific progress/ literature in the area;

  • Support the participating countries in their needs of medical knowledge, e.g. through training/presentations to top KOLs etc.;

  • Participate in important local/regional/global advisory boards;

  • Help prepare/ negotiate Health Authority Approvals and reimbursement.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree and Subspecialty postgraduate medical training;

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken;

  • Familiar with the regulatory and legal environment;

  • Collaborative and team-oriented worker;

  • Sensitive to diverse global cultures;

  • Strong communicator for both scientific discussions and training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in Cardiovascular Diseases or Nephrology (adult or pediatrics).

Domestic relocation may be offered.

Director Submission Medical Writer YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Submission Medical Writer, are to: * Act as the medical writing expert for assigned drug projects, and lead the planning, development, and implementation of the content strategy of clinical submission documents (with input from appropriate expert functions); * Drive the design of clinical submission documents in support of the Clinical Development Plan for assigned drug projects including: validating individual study protocol design and evaluating key messages of the clinical study report and other clinical submission documents; * Lead the development of the project-level data presentation strategy and messaging standards; * Lead the team of medical writers supporting the clinical submission documents for assigned drug projects; * Author submission documents and work with assigned Associate Submission Writers and Senior Scientific Medical Writers and other submission team experts in developing and implementing the submission authoring strategy for all clinical documents; * Work with Head MW Oncology to develop and implement authoring resource plans for all clinical submission documents of assigned drug projects; * Maintain current knowledge on all regulatory agency medical review guidelines and drug approval requirements for assigned projects; * Mentor Associate Submission Medical Writers and Senior Scientific Medical Writers in developing expertise in managing, writing and submission of documents. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required Qualifications: * Master's degree in natural sciences with a minimum of eight years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or Ph.D. in natural sciences with a minimum of six years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry; * At least six years of experience in regulatory medical writing including four years of experience writing submission documents (Safety Summaries, Efficacy Summaries, Clinical Overviews, etc.); * Possess strong planning and project management skills and experiences; * Experience developing clinical documents in support of regulatory submissions globally (e.g. multiple regions); * Experience in leading medical writing teams and mentoring medical writers for at least 2 years; * Understanding of the overall drug development process with specific knowledge of the clinical study report development process, regulatory and drug safety requirements, and clinical data management and statistical processes/functions; * In-depth understanding of all regulatory guidance, standards and requirements pertaining to regulatory medical writing worldwide (e.g. ICH, FDA, EMEA); * Excellent working knowledge of current electronic authoring, document management, and electronic regulatory submissions; * Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal required to articulate concepts and ideas, be diplomatic, be persuasive, and be able to establish rapport with all key functional leaders and experts in the SBU Oncology organization. Preferred Qualifications: * Ph.D.; * Experience writing submission documents in the area of Oncology; * Project management experience.
