Job Summary
Enhances the holistic development and academic success of students within the university. Leads efforts to engage students, build strong support networks, and provides comprehensive guidance and assistance to promote student retention and success.
Advocates for student needs, analyzes data to inform strategic decision-making, and cultivates partnerships to expand resources and opportunities available to students. Champions student well-being, academic achievement, and overall success within the university ecosystem.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Collaborates with department leaders to design and implement programs and initiatives that foster the academic, personal, and social development of students
2.Develops innovative strategies to increase student engagement, involvement, and sense of belonging within the university community
3.Builds collaborative relationships with campus departments, faculty, staff, and student organizations to establish a strong support network for students
4.Provides direct supervision, mentorship, and support to a team of student success staff to ensure effective student support
5.Leads the recruitment, training, and professional development of student success staff to improve abilities in guiding and supporting students
6.Collects and analyzes data on student engagement, retention, and success outcomes to inform strategic decision-making and enhance program effectiveness
7.Leads the development and implementation of retention initiatives aimed at promoting student persistence and success
8.Monitors student progress closely and identifies potential barriers to success, collaborates with campus partners to implement targeted interventions and support services
9.Engages in proactive outreach activities to connect students with campus resources, engagement opportunities, and support services
Cultivates partnerships with external organizations and community agencies to expand resources and opportunities available to students
Counsels students individually or in groups, addressing personal, social, academic, and career-related concerns to promote their overall success and well-being
Assists students in formulating academic plans, setting achievable goals, and navigating challenges to promote their academic and personal growth
Connects students with appropriate campus resources and support services tailored to their needs and concerns
Collaborates with campus partners to improve access to academic advising, tutoring, counseling, financial aid, and other vital support services
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Required Experience
Seven (7) years of related work experience including at least three (3) years of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Experience in student affairs, academic advising, counseling, or related areas within higher education
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
