The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) department is hiring an Associate Director, Student Counseling. This role oversees, plans and coordinates all components of the multi-disciplinary training program of the Center. UCF CAPS is a large dynamic multi-disciplinary counseling center serving the UCF students campus both individually and through telehealth services. This position is responsible to the Director, University Counseling Center, or appropriate administrators, and may also function for the Director in their absence, as required or needed. At times, this position may be delegated responsibility for the overall direction and management of a specific functional area. Also responsible for assisting in the visioning, development, and implementation of the university mental health system for university students.

This is an Auxiliary-funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

  • Updates training policies and procedures.

  • Provides training for supervisors.

  • Organizes training year from orientation to graduation.

  • Manages assignment of supervisors.

  • Leads all training recruitment.

  • Leads training and other committees.

  • Oversees, plans and coordinates program evaluations at the Center.

  • Conducts data collection and program evaluation for counseling, training, and supervision to inform practices and evaluate outcomes.

  • Assesses clinical, and training data to inform program expectations and generates reports.

  • Carries a supervisory portfolio and shared oversight of the following: crisis assessment and response, End of Day duties, clinical consultation, outreach programming, and clinical supervision.

  • Serves on the administrative team.

  • In the absence of the director, this role may need to supervise all operations in accordance with CAPS policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA (American Psychological Association) accredited college or university, completion of an APA-accredited internship or closely related field and equivalent internship and have a minimum of 4 years of College Counseling Center or related experience. Must possess a current clinical license in their current state jurisdiction of practice. Must be license eligible in Florida at time of hire, be licensed by the State of Florida within 6 months of hire date and must maintain license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the leadership, and/or coordination of counseling center administrative functions (clinical and/or training service delivery) with experience in managing staff and teams.

  • Experience with systemic thinking in the areas of clinical, training and outreach services delivery; proficient in legal ethical decision making when developing Center policies and procedures, as well as an understanding of and commitment to diversity issues in the delivery and management of clinical services.

  • Ability to handle and supervise complex crises and/or clinical situations and demonstrate commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice.

  • Ability to provide quality clinical supervision, training, and consultation to a large multidisciplinary staff.

  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills to manage a large clinical delivery system.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Team-oriented with an ability to work within a large clinical system and administrative structure, and the ability to work collaboratively, respectfully, and in a timely manner as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong program development and evaluation skills required for clinical utilization tracking, clinical services training, outcome assessment, quality assurance and utilization review; and reporting data out when needed in presentation or report form.

  • Proficiency in working with back-end Titanium scheduling system, CCAPS, and CCMH data.

  • Proficiency with program evaluation, statistics and data analysis of trends and outcomes in the clinical delivery system preferred to turn into reports.

  • Excellent report writing skills and proficiency in using Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Professional demeanor, comfortable presenting programs to large audiences regarding mental health or clinical issues.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

Candidates should be licensed as a psychologist in Florida or license eligible as a psychologist with a current license in another state.
