Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Director, Retail and Catering.

Oversees and Manages all retail food venues and the Catering Division within the Food and Nutrition Services Department for all locations in the Manhattan campus(Tisch, Kimmel, Science, LOH and other offsite venues). Also responsible for overseeing all facets of special event planning and interacts positively and collaboratively with clients, vendors and other sub-units / departments to foster effective partnerships and deliver desirable outcomes

Job Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to and promotes the mission, vision and values of the Food and Nutrition Services Department and NYU Langone Health. Achieves a world class level of food and hospitality for our staff, patients, and guests

  • Ensures a high level of employee engagement and satisfaction by facilitating a positive work environment, open lines of communication, and culture of excellence.

  • Oversees all aspects of retail and catering operations for the Manhattan Campus. Holds leaders in these areas accountable to achieve all goals set forth by the department and organization.

  • Maintains quality food and service at all retail venues; and catering inclusive of developing, coordinating, executing, and evaluating menu cycles, promotions, and service enhancements to increase sales, customer counts, and guest satisfaction.

  • Participates in the development and management of the operating and capital budgets through appropriate review and supervision of resource utilization inclusive of the development and implementation of cost savings, revenue generation strategies to meet departmental /organizational goals.

  • Maintains a sanitary, safe and efficient operation in accordance with The Joint Commission and all Federal, State, and Local Regulations.

  • Is responsible for directing the selection, orientation, training, and performance evaluations of the staff to access competency and to provide the opportunity for personal / professional development with a hospitality focus.

  • Maintains all necessary parameters for CBORD Odyssey System, Event Master, and/or Meeting Room Manager and maximizes automation; and the organizations intranet as related to the marketing of retail food venues and catering.

  • Establishes / Maintains the appropriate par levels for food / non-food supplies to ensure operational efficiency and eliminate waste in retail food venues.

  • Prepares, reviews, and/or monitors accounting and financial reports to maintain accurate safe/cash/ charge handling protocols and participates in the auditing process of such.

  • Merchandizes retail services and catered events effectively and creatively to achieve optimal image enhancement and the dining experience.

  • Schedules staff to maximize operational efficiency and control labor expenses.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Food Service Management, Hotel / Restaurant Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of five (5) years of progressive operations experience in the food service industry at the managerial level in a high volume setting.

National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for ServSafe Protection Certification (obtained within 6 months of hire)

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 - $195,179.92 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
