Drug Product Development (DPD)

Our Drug Product Development team is committed to CMC design, development, and commercialization of innovative drug products to improve patient lives. We leverage the best people, collaboration, and cutting-edge innovation to achieve this commitment. BMS's internal engine of innovation includes unrivaled industry leading expertise in CMC development of small molecules, protein biotherapeutics, protein degraders, and other therapeutic modalities. We collaborate closely with our colleagues in R&D and Commercial to design our drug products. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Partner with internal teams within Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Product Development (ex. formulation, packaging, devices, etc.), and CMC organization to help define product strategy for assets.

  • Define options for product presentations and enable decision making through financial modeling and business case development.

  • Leverage clinical/patient/user/business/analytics input to strategically translate it into program-specific product requirements.

  • Support the development of a strong external and internal customer, patient, and key opinion leader network to inform and set product strategy.

  • Work with internal Product Development teams to conduct technology landscape assessments and define investment strategy with a ROI mindset.

  • Develop and manage an efficient and sustainable Technology and Innovation database which will be leveraged to capture, assess, and prioritize technology assessments and track innovation programs.

  • Identify strategic external partnerships for technology development in partnership with Business Development.

  • Serve as a mentor to junior associates in the group and product strategy leads.

Qualifications

  • BS in a bioscience, pharmaceutical science, engineering (mechanical, biomedical, chemical) discipline with 15 years of experience or MS with 12 years. Candidates with advanced degree and less years of experience will also be considered.

  • MS degree in a business management field is a plus.

  • Technical knowledge and understanding in one of the following areas is preferred: (1) drug delivery device technologies, (2) drug product development, (3) customers, market and the competitive environment in the healthcare field.

Other Dimensions

  • Demonstrated understanding of design thinking approach used as part of the early technology and concept development.

  • Understanding of methodologies used to capture industry trends, market dynamics, and the current and future state of the art.

  • Demonstrated managerial skills and experience working within a matrix organization, leading, and influencing cross-functionally is a must.

  • Must be capable of influencing without authority and often working within ambiguity.

  • Excellent decision-making, written and verbal communication skills, with experience communicating recommendations to matrix teams and senior leaders.

  • Ability to strategically frame complex opportunities into manageable elements and convince cross-functional leaders of its merit and approach.

BMS has a diverse occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work.
