As a member of Santander's retail banking division you'll help serve Santander's retail and small business customers as part of one of the top banks in the United States based on deposits. With principal presence in the northeast U.S., Santander's retail division offers consumer and lending products to help our customers reach their financial goals. The Associate Director, Product Management oversees the strategic development of Consumer Lending and Credit Card/Payment initiatives as well as providing product management leadership for Personal Lending products.S/he will lead the evaluation of market trends, product lifecycle, product positioning, and will maintain accountability for product profit and growth goals. S/he identifies areas of opportunity and champions new features to the product line that will optimize sales opportunities, meet organization objectives and enhance the customer experience.This role will also play a central role in optimizing strategic partnerships that currently exist as well as new ones that will be identified.The Associate Director, Product Management will operate at a highly independent level, consulting with and advising management on the marketing and strategic implications of various actions.


  • Responsible for strategic development initiatives, and driving innovation for the Consumer Lending product team as well as providing leadership with Personal Lending products.

  • Ensures product strategies meet state and Federal regulatory requirements and coordinates legal re-view of all supporting collateral materials and documentation.

  • Leads the design, development, implementation and enhancement of new or existing products supporting organization and business line objectives.

  • Manages the development and maintenance of competitive analysis and market research of competing products and services to identify customer needs and trends.

  • Collaborates with Product Leaders on the development of collateral material, advertising, promotional programs, sales training programs, operational procedures and systems requirements to ensure that sales departments are provided with appropriate sales, merchandising and administrative tools.

  • Manages the on-going research relevant to the strategic initiatives to help inform go forward recommendations and product management activities.

  • Recommends enhancements to product lines to stimulate sales and meet objectives.

  • Implements and executes employee relations policies, training programs and various other human resources programs and policies.

  • Oversees the strategic product management for an assigned product lines in support of the organization's goals and market needs.

  • Responsible for meeting product profit and growth goals.

  • Plans, develops and controls project/product budget.

  • Reviews risk data related to product lines and ensures risks are effectively monitored and managed.

  • Reviews strategic product and market perspectives; evaluating long term effects and anticipating changes.


  • Bachelor's Degree; in Business, Finance, or equivalent discipline.,or equivalent work experience.

  • 12-15 years; Credit Cards/Payments and Personal Lending experience strongly preferred.

  • Leadership roles driving strategies in the Credit Card/Payments industry and/or product management of Personal Loans is desired.

  • Experience defining, managing and implementing enterprise wide initiatives.

  • Vendor management experience desired.

  • Related work experience.

  • Comprehensive to expert knowledge of the assigned business line and technical marketing skills.

  • Demonstrated management, leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated marketing and marketing research skills.

  • Strong financial and competitive analysis and PC skills.

  • Strong knowledge of Credit Card and Consumer Lending product/program development, pricing, implementation and strategic analysis.

  • Strong product management, design and development skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of competitive landscape for Cards/Payments and Personal Lending marketplace.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.

  • Anticipates the impact of change and creates an environment where change can be initiated with minimal disruptions and negative impact.

Exceptional delivery of all core arguments and associated product messages. Consistent, excellent implementation of the Sales Action Plan. 2a) Plan and allocate sales activities to the highest potential opportunities to drive results for both the Public and Private markets. 2b) Prospect and qualify new and emerging markets and feedback information to the Company as requested. Operate within assigned budgets. 2c) Analyze business opportunities and strategically utilize CRB tools and promotional budget to identify the highest value accounts that bring the greatest ROI in sales growth. 3a) Utilize the ATI selection process to define and refine on a trimester basis ensuring that the highest value accounts are identifed within the established guidelines. Utilize BASS reports which include previous sales history & DO potential along with public zip code data. 3b) Utlize ARIS to achieve optimal reach and frequency to highest potential ATI targets and Physicians by developing a routing plan that achieves a minimum of 6 calls per day and 7 physicians by effectively scheduling appointments and in-services to support the public & private ordering cycle (ie. EOQ, Easy order, Promotions). It is essential that we continue working the entire office and expanding our contacts on each call. 3c)Effectively promote all assigned franchises in line with the company trimester priorities (ACM) Educate, sell and influence key contacts during each sales call by utilizing core arguments and persuasive selling skills which results in customer behavior change and increased sales. 3d) Be organized for the sales call with current POA marketing messages and materials. Complete a thorough precall plan by reviewing sales history, script data reporting, previous calls notes in order to develop a Blueprint as a roadmap with specific objectives, methods & actions (SOMA). This involves anticipating and handling objections in order to advance the sale. 4) Effective implementation of Customer Relationship Building tactics (i.e. VIMS, EZ Order, Well Connect, etc.), value added services, and Execution of the Action Plan is expected on a consistent basis. Minimum expectations will be stated in the trimester action plan. Any specific territory expectations (exceptions) will be defined and agreed upon between VS and DSM in order to adjust for any specific market conditions. VSs will be accountable for remaining within the allocated territory promotional budget and effective utilization of promotional money to generate positive return on investment (ROI). Adhering to the corporate promotional guidelines while supporting the data requirements for the Sunshine Act. 5) Prepare and conduct consultative business review presentations that differentiate the Company as a business partner by supporting customer objectives and engaging the client in clinical and business conversations. Education/experience Required: o BA. /B.S. required, preferably in Immunology, Biology or Business. o 2 years business to business sales experience. o A valid driver's license is required along with a record of safe driving record. o Strong oral, written and analytical skills with the demonstrated ability to work in teams.
