The Position

The Associate Director, US Payer Marketing will be responsible for the development and implementation of key brand strategies and initiatives that are focused on the U.S. payer and reimbursement environment to support the overall US commercial strategy. This role will be responsible for collaborating with multiple functional groups, including but not limited to Market Access, Payer Access, Government Affairs, Sales, Regulatory, Market Research, Commercial Operations, Legal, Patient Advocacy and Medical Affairs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide commercial direction, input, and decision making at all stages of brand strategy and operational plan execution

  • Develop and execute payer strategy, including identification of key market dynamics, critical tactical programs, and portfolio positioning and messaging

  • Formulate competitive payer messaging platform to effectively position Sarepta products within the RNA and gene therapy marketplace

  • Support management by conducting analyses, synthesizing strategic inputs and providing strategic recommendations

  • Identify market research needs, align on market research plans and translate findings into portfolio strategies and forecasting assumptions

  • Work and manage all vendors/agencies successfully and effectively

  • Collaborate with market access field team to develop new promotional initiatives to field personnel in an efficient and accurate manner.

  • Oversee market access strategy development and execution across the DMD franchise and eventually other therapeutic areas.

  • Represent marketing function as the PRC reviewer for all promotional material

Base Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in business, marketing or science required

  • Minimum of 2 years of market access experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical and/or healthcare experience with a minimum of 5+ years in U.S. pharmaceutical marketing (pre-launch or in-line) or relevant experience

  • Strong, team-oriented leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence, lead, negotiate and work effectively at all levels across the organization

  • Experience in successfully representing the commercial perspective during the regulatory/legal review of launch promotional materials

  • Ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analyses of complex strategic initiatives, including a demonstrated understanding of the tools and methodologies needed to develop assumptions for a business case, market and competitive analysis, customer needs and primary/secondary research sources to support hypotheses

  • Enthusiasm, confidence, ability to work on multiple tasks, problem solving ability, comfort in an ambiguous environment, and ability to prioritize effectively to meet organizational objectives

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong preference for experience in rare disease marketing, including launch experience.

  • Muscular dystrophy marketing experience is desired but not required

  • Experience with products that have accelerated approval launch is desired

  • Launch experience in preferred

  • MBA is preferred but not required

Required Skills Duties & Responsibilities: * Provide commercial direction, input, and decision making at all stages of brand strategy and operational plan execution * Develop and execute payer strategy, including identification of key market dynamics, critical tactical programs, and portfolio positioning and messaging * Formulate competitive payer messaging platform to effectively position Akebia products within the renal marketplace * Develop value dossier and healthcare economic messages and materials related to the value proposition for payers and dialysis organizations * Support management by conducting analyses, synthesizing strategic inputs and providing strategic recommendations * Identify market research needs, align on market research plans and translate findings into portfolio strategies and forecasting assumptions * Work and manage external vendors/agencies successfully * Collaborate with market access field team to develop new promotional initiatives to field personnel. * Develop customer specific promotional material to support both payers and dialysis organizations * Contribute to market access strategy development and execution for Auryxia and potential future products. * Represent marketing function as the PRC reviewer for payer access materials. * Development of personal and non-personal tactics and programs to support the Market Access team * Development and enhancement of Access, Reimbursement and Pull Through resources for the Healthcare Provider audience * Lead promotional presence at key national Payer Conferences * Manage and optimize Payer media plan * Lead and monitor multi-channel pull-through initiatives * Contribute to development of training programs and workshops for access, reimbursement and pull-through in collaboration with training * Support and contribute to development of materials/resources for POA meetings * Work closely with Franchise Marketing Operations and Patient Services to plan and manage print and fulfillment for access and reimbursement materials Required Experience Basic Qualifications: * BS Degree * Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience healthcare industry * Minimum of 2+ years of market access experience Preferred Qualifications: * MBA degree a plus * Prior experience, including Launch experience in renal marketing desired * Strong, team-oriented leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence, lead, negotiate and work effectively at all levels across the organization * Experience in successfully representing the commercial perspective during the regulatory/legal review of launch promotional materials * Ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analyses of complex strategic initiatives, including a demonstrated understanding of the tools and methodologies needed to develop assumptions for a business case, market and competitive analysis, customer needs and primary/secondary research sources to support hypotheses * Enthusiasm, confidence, ability to work on multiple tasks, problem solving ability, comfort in an ambiguous environment, and ability to prioritize effectively to meet organizational objectives * Payer marketing experience (1-2 years) strongly preferred * Knowledge and understanding of payer environment and understanding of the evolving reimbursement landscape * Pharmaceutical product launch experience preferred * Knowledge of Renal/Dialysis market dynamics preferred * Understanding of the FDA promotional guidelines and Medical/Legal/Regulatory review and approval process * Ability to work across multiple functions (sales, brand marketing, market research, policy, medical affairs, finance) * Proficient management of agencies to develop and implement creative programs and tactics * Proficient in budget management * Strong analytical skills * Strong communication skills (writing and verbal) Position will be based in Cambridge, MA and require up to 25% travel.
