Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Patient Services Training develops and directs training programs to provide best-in-class patient services and support across all levels. The role collaborates with field-based patient services and specialty pharmacy operations teams to prevent and address barriers to patient access.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver instructor led training programs on case management and patient access barriers including, insurance coverage, reimbursement, site of care, healthcare reform, and other pertinent issues regarding access to healthcare

  • Identify training and development needs for the Rheumatology and Orphan field-based patient services organization

  • Lead and execute the on-boarding process for new field personnel

  • Develop and maintain updated training content and agendas for new hire training, follow-up training, and periodic sales/launch meetings

  • Collaborate with internal departments such as patient services operations, IT, marketing management, sales operations, regulatory, medical, compliance, managed markets, trade and legal affairs to design, build and deliver comprehensive training programs for PAMs

  • Monitor current trends and patient service policy decisions to evaluate impact on Horizon's approach

  • Liaise with Promotional Review Committee (PRC) to develop new tools and resources for education

  • Ensure that all training content and activities are fully compliant with all relevant industry and Company policies

  • Support ad hoc projects and tasks as needed

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college/university required

  • At least 5+ years' experience working in the pharmaceutical industry required

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior relationship management experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of field based experience in patient services role

  • Buy and bill experience and success required

  • Biologic/biotech reimbursement experience preferred

  • Rheumatology therapeutic area experience preferred

  • Previous experience in Rheumatology, Rare Disease, or a related specialty disease category preferred

  • Experience in content development and instructional design a plus

  • Experience working with learning management systems (LMS) preferred

  • Experience working with institutions and integrated delivery networks preferred

  • Experience working in a team environment which successfully partners with all Commercial Operations functions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Professional, proactive demeanor

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Requires approximately 20% travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments
