MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Associate Director of the Annual Fund, Digital Fundraising (Associate Director) for the Montana State University Alumni Foundation (Alumni Foundation) generates philanthropic giving, both increasing dollars and donors, through the development of targeted online programs as well as fundraising initiatives involving new and developing media and technologies. The Associate Director meets short-term and long-term goals from new and existing giving sources by developing best practices for digital fundraising across multiple platforms. Reporting to the Vice President of the Annual Fund and working closely with staff across the Alumni Foundation, the Associate Director focuses on cultivating donations through email; social media; mobile; crowdfunding; day-of-giving; other third-party fundraising platforms; and newly developing avenues from alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of Montana State University.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and manage a strategic e-solicitation program in support of overall Annual Giving goals. E-solicitations should work in conjunction with direct mail, telephone program, and other initiatives.

  • Support campus colleagues in the creation and maintenance of online giving pages through Alumni Foundation approved online gift transaction sites.

  • Assist Alumni Foundation staff with digital fundraising support for key constituent groups; including but not limited to reunions, retirees, faculty & staff, parents, athletics, etc.

  • Lead or partner with campus colleagues on crowdfunding initiatives. Create and implement solicitation strategies, marketing plans, training materials and time lines.

  • Report and track digital initiatives as part of overall Annual Giving goals and strategies.

  • Manage the strategy, development and execution of an MSU day-of-giving. Work with campus partners to ensure a collaborative and successful marketing and fundraising effort.

  • Collaborate with the Alumni Foundations Office of Annual Fund and Office of Communications on online giving, support Alumni Foundation web content and social media.

  • Collaborate with the Alumni Foundations Office of Data and Information Services to enhance online giving portals and processes.

  • Execute targeted strategies for donor segments and key audiences in collaboration with Annual Giving staff and other campus stakeholders.

  • Develop specialized annual giving campaigns for key digital efforts including Giving Tuesday, days-of-giving, and other special initiatives.

  • Affect and maintain a professional, proactive, positive, highly collaborative, and performance-centric work environment.

  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be technically competent and comfortable using a variety of software applications including MS Office and data management systems.

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including development officers, deans, faculty and staff, and other key stakeholders.

  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions and recommendations.

  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical ability and time management skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate a track record in fund raising and/or marketing, preferably within a university setting.

  • Experience working with large data sets, digital engagement and fundraising, and social media outreach.

  • Candidates should have a passion for digital engagement and be eager to play an important role on the annual giving team and to be a part of a mission-driven fundraising operation.

  • Experience with social media marketing, including content creation, ads and measurement for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and social media management tools.

  • Willingness and ability to work evening and weekends as needed.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to positively interact with a wide array of individuals.

  • Ability to work with a high-degree of integrity and complete respect for confidentiality.

S/he is responsible for developing and implementing the strategy around acquiring, renewing, upgrading, and stewarding Leadership Annual Gifts based on donor interest and passion to the University. The Associate Director reports to the Alumni Foundations Vice President of the Annual Fund. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Focus on acquiring, retaining, and upgrading donors at the Leadership Annual Giving level (between $1,000 and $24,999.99) from alumni, faculty/staff/retirees, parents of students, and friends of the University. * Initiate and administer the long and short-term strategies for Leadership Annual Giving, including the development of programs, communications, and activities in support of these strategies, at the discretion of the Vice President of the Annual Fund. * Assist in the planning, development, implementation, and management of the Presidents Circle gift recognition society of 500+ donors. * Create, implement, and execute a successful strategy for individual Leadership Annual Gift solicitations that ultimately increase the development pipeline to the University. * Work effectively and collaboratively with the Annual Fund team to create specialized content and material to be used in annual fund solicitation projects for Leadership Annual Giving segments. * Develop overall goals, objectives, and strategies to increase the pipeline of donors to the Development (major gifts) office. * Form collaborative partnerships with academic unit development leaders, as well as the campus community. * Work with academic unit leaders to steward and engage leadership level donors specific to their units in an effort to advance donors through the development pipeline. * Adhere to all Alumni Foundation policies and procedures in fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the position. * Affect and maintain a professional, proactive, positive, highly collaborative, and performance-centric work environment. * Perform other related duties, as assigned.
