Student Accessibility Resource Center

Job Summary

Lead staff in the development and provision of accessibility programs, services and resources for students with disabilities. Ensure continual progression toward a more disability-friendly environment across campus in support of University mission.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as departmental liaison, e.g., with Student-Athlete Services, Regents Center for Learning Disorders

  • Assist with transition and outreach services

  • Perform duties associated with adaptive technology

  • Oversee duties associated with the provision of alternative media and note-taking assistance

  • Interview students to evaluate or re-evaluate needs, determine eligibility, and implement academic accommodations

  • Provide direct and indirect supervision to the Center staff

  • Interact daily with students, faculty, and staff to ensure accessibility

  • Address faculty and staff concerns regarding the implementation of accommodations

  • Provide ongoing education and training on disability issues

  • Serve on institutional committees

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Master's Degree in education, counseling, psychology, social science or related field

Required Experience

  • Five (5) or more years of related work experience

Proposed Salary

$55,126 - $70,307

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

  • Ability to support various constituencies served by the University

  • Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position

  • Exhibit personal code of ethics within professional practice

  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors

  • Ability to identify and address problems, formulate rules, articulate policies and rules to internal and external constituents

  • Ability to respond effectively to the sensitive inquiries or complaints

KNOWLEDGE

  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success

  • Thorough knowledge of emerging trends and needs of students

SKILLS

  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills\

  • Skilled in assessment and continuous improvement of Student Affairs programs in higher education

  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills

  • Problem-solving and team building skills
