We are currently searching for an Associate Director of Quality to join the Mission Systems Quality Communication Navigation and Guidance Solutions (CNG) team located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Job Summary

This is a leadership position is within the CNG business unit. The persons within the role will be responsible for all programs, initiatives, and strategies related to quality management and be a strong customer advocate within the business unit. This will be a functional role in product and process compliance to ensure safety and reliability of products delivered to end users. This will be accomplished by supporting the development of program quality, quality system maintenance/improvement, regulatory agency interface and the on-going support of production products. As a quality portfolio leader, it is expected you are acting as the voice of the customer (VOC) and ensure requirements are realized throughout the life cycle of the products.

Job Responsibilities

This role will responsible for monitoring, analysis, reporting, and driving improvement actions to meet or exceed customer and manufacturing expectations.

  • Support Program/Portfolio cadence reviews

  • Leads customer product and process reviews

  • Reviews and evaluates customer quality product requirement

  • Supports Program Management review

  • Track customer returns

  • Develop, establish, a drive plans to improve customer performance and satisfaction

  • (Executes Risk & Mitigation Plans)

  • Develop and lead action plans to address systemic issues

  • Manage daily activities of the functional quality organization, ensuring adequate resources are in place for compliance and cross-training occurs to maximize quality staff

  • Implement and improve the company quality system in accordance with current industry standards

  • Act as liaison with external parties, including the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and regulatory agencies, on matters related to the quality system

  • Act as business partner to operations, ensuring the quality function drives leadership in compliance systems and management

  • Communicate and advocate key company positions relating to complex or controversial issues in a concise and professional manner to customers, senior leadership, regulators, certification bodies, and employees

  • Work effectively with multiple stakeholders, including site teams and program teams

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing or applicable field with minimum 8 years of progressive responsibility in Quality, Manufacturing or relevant experience

  • 10 + years in a management experience

  • Experience managing QMS & Compliance

  • ISO and AS9100 experience and background

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form vertically and horizontally across all site organizations and within the business unit.

  • Create and deliver an impactful presentation to multiple stakeholders including customers, senior leadership, regulators, certification bodies, and employees

  • Communicate and advocate key company position relating to complex or Demonstrated track record of successful site QMS implementation and sustaining/maintenance activities to include customer, regulator, 3rd party/AS9100 audit and results

  • Possess project management skills to track and status QMS deployment activities, Corrective Action plans, defect reduction initiatives and FOD control Plans

  • Address controversial issues in a clear, concise and professional manner


Preferred Experience

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification and/or Lean Manufacturing experience highly desired.

  • Zero Defect culture, APQP experience a plus

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering/ Master Degree will be a plus

  • Aerospace experience is strongly preferred
