Southwestern University, located in Georgetown has an immediate opening for Associate Director of Prospect Management position. The Associate Director of Prospect Management is responsible for coordinating portfolio optimization and solicitation strategies, measure gift officer progress towards annual goals, help maintain data accuracy and integrity. Provide ongoing prospect management and tracking for major and principal gifts. As well as identifying philanthropic prospects, performing extensive research, providing information analysis, data management tools to support effective fundraising, donor-centric data-driven decision making, and strategic planning for engagement and fundraising priorities for the University. This is a full-time, fully benefited, exempt position who reports to the Director of Advancement Services and Prospect Management.

Primary Duties:

  • Provides insight for prospect strategy through ongoing portfolio and pipeline analysis.

  • Assist in the growth of high capacity portfolios, major and principal gift prospect tracking.

  • Recommends processes to ensure the best prospects are actively managed.

  • In partnership with the Advancement Operations team, produces regular prospect management reports and dashboards that track the quality of prospect pools, portfolios, and metrics to aid in decision making across the division.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, etc.

  • Adheres to ethical and confidentiality guidelines of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) and maintains an active membership.

  • Educates University Relations department on current research practices and trends.

  • Identifies new prospects and manages the system for prospect identification by capitalizing on the existing and developing landscape of software resources and platforms.

  • Develops an operational analytics program/system and related visualization tools.

  • Interpret detailed legal, financial, technical, and trade documents and journal/media articles including tax records, annual reports, SEC filings, real estate property filings, etc. to help identify potential donors and their capacity and inclination to make a philanthropic gift.

  • Analyze and evaluate complex court records, criminal filings, national and foreign sanctions records, and negative media coverage to gauge the reputational risk of prospective fundraising prospects and donors.

  • Oversee the production of high-quality research deliverables for senior college leadership and fundraising staff.

  • Cultivate culture and create analytical solutions for proactive research aligned with portfolio development, prospect pools, and campaign priorities.

  • Work with confidential sensitive information and uphold the Donor Bill of Rights.

  • Drive effective communication of research ROI to advance partnerships with staff, colleagues and opportunities for strategic utilization of research throughout all levels of the university.

  • Creates a biographical profile and related materials for presidential events and provides requested information to the Board of Trustees and Board of Visitors candidate pipeline.

  • Assists University Admissions with annual screening project for new students' parents.

  • Assists University Relations by staffing on-campus events such as Homecoming, Parents Weekend, and Giving Day.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 1 plus years of professional or relevant experience in prospect development, data analytics, or related fields.

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent computer skills utilizing software such as Microsoft Office Suite, email software, prospect management and mainframe databases.

  • Ability to quickly learn institutionally specific computer software such as Colleague Advancement and Informer.

  • Knowledge of public and proprietary search resources and tactical understanding of usage.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with high levels of concentration and accuracy as well as meticulous attention to detail.

  • Ability to supervise, delegate and direct the work of student assistants.

  • Possess the applications of tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, and confidentiality.

  • Ability to attend work consistently and maintain a regular work schedule.

  • Posses strong leadership skills, work ethic, time management, and project management.

  • Knowledge of Donor Bill of Rights and other ethical standards.

  • Ability to adhere to the University's core values, understand and commitment to a liberal arts education, including the ability to relate to a liberal art faculty.

Preferred Position Requirements:

  • Strong technology and database skills and ability to demonstrate proficiency using fundraising information systems.

  • Ability to communicate and translate data findings with technical and non-technical staff.

  • Experience and knowledge with move management strategies and the identification process of new prospects.

  • Experience in a fundraising organization.

  • Knowledge of State and Federal Regulations on ethical development research.

  • Knowledge in advance statistical sampling, survey methodology, data collection, report preparation, and statistical analysis.
