The Associate Director of International Student Recruitment reports directly to the Director of International Student Programs (ISP). This full-time exempt position has primary responsibility for the following areas:

  • Recruitment of international students for Highline College - through the development of country specific recruitment strategies and marketing campaigns. The position will work as part of an international student marketing team, consisting of the Director of ISP, the Associate Director of International Student Recruitment, and the Global Programs Manager, with oversight from the Vice President of Administration and Global Initiatives;

  • Management of the administrative and business functions of ISP, including supervision of admissions, office reception, agency contract management, and business processes - to ensure efficient and effective support for students from recruitment to enrollment;

  • Support the overall institutional efforts on global educational programming.

This is a full-time, exempt at-will position. This position requires overseas travel as well as some evening/weekend work.

Essential Tasks

Reporting directly to the Director of International Student Programs, this position will:

RECRUITMENT:

  • Develop an annual student recruitment plan and a marketing plan for Highline College (as part of the international marketing team);

  • Develop and create marketing materials (printed and electronic) to aid in the recruitment efforts, including the reflection and depth and range of college programs and educational pathways;

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify target markets for international student recruitment;

  • Participate in international/overseas student recruitment efforts, as well as facilitating virtual recruitment opportunities as outlined in the annual recruitment plan;

  • Create and manage social media strategies to attract and engage prospective and existing students;

  • Present Highline's program offerings to prospective students, parents, agencies, schools and organizations for the purpose of recruiting students;

  • Collect all inquiries/leads for assigned markets and follow up via a variety of communication channels with the goal of student enrollment;

  • Identify, recruit and maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as student recruitment agencies, Study USA, high schools and language schools in target markets;

  • Expand and strengthen alumni strategy and serve as the liaison with Highline's Alumni Office;

  • Conduct training and updates with identified partners/agents overseas;

  • Develop proposed itineraries and budgets for assigned markets;

  • Work with the advising team to generate data needed for recruitment purposes;

  • Other related duties as assigned.

BUSINESS & ADMINISTRATION:

  • Oversee the admissions, front desk, and fiscal functions in the ISP department;

  • Supervise the Program Manager (PM) of Fiscal Operations, Admissions, and Front Desk with respect to their duties and responsibilities;

  • In collaboration with the PM of Fiscal, Admissions, and Front Desk, review existing and new processes and recommend process improvement to both the PM and Director of ISP;

  • Work directly with the admissions coordinator to pull data needed for recruitment purposes on a consistent basis;

  • Work with the Front Desk Coordinator with the purpose of maintaining great customer services and evaluate and recommend any process changes;

  • Coordinate and host visiting guests, including prospective international students and partners, to Highline College.

GLOBAL EDUCATION:

  • Serve as part of Global Initiatives Leadership team to promote understanding of international and global education issues;

  • Provide support and connection to Global Programs as related to international students.

OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to effectively present to culturally and ethnically diverse groups of people whose native language may not be English; excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and social media tools;

  • Ability to prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines and manage a complex workload;

  • Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills;

  • Work within a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment;

  • Demonstrated experience with use of social media in marketing or program development.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Business-related degree, International Relations, or a closely related field; AND
  • Two years working experience at a higher education institution within a marketing, admissions, or student recruitment area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree;

  • Experience working with a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system;

  • Proficient in another language such as Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai, Cantonese;

  • Working knowledge of SEVIS and F-1 and J-1 visa regulations;

  • Community College international recruitment experience.
