Note: This position is only open to internal Colorado Community College System employees.

In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Rural Processing Center and providing support and leadership to the individual rural college Financial Aid Directors. This position directly supervises the System Office Financial Aid Specialists. You will provide assistance to the System Office Financial Aid Director in the oversight of all Title IV and financial aid processes within the Financial Aid System community, including verification, packaging, funds management, Return of Title IV and Satisfactory Academic Progress that are compliant with both state and federal regulations. Additionally, you will act as a direct liaison between the CCCS Financial Aid Office and the CCCS-IT Division for process development and improvement in Ellucian Banner and other available CCCS resources.

  • Assist the Financial Aid Director in Banner End-User development to automate and streamline financial aid processes enabling College staff to concentrate on student focused processes while providing quality assurance processing in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Serve as primary liaison to CCCS-IT in the development of Banner enhancements, upgrades, COGNOS reports and enhancement requests.

  • Directly supervise and manage staff of the CCCS Financial Aid Processing Center who perform financial aid processing for CCCS Rural Colleges. Direct centralized processing, which includes making decisions to meet compliance requirements for complex processes such as FAFSA Dataload, Verification, Packaging, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and Quality Assurance processing of the work performed. Work directly with the rural Financial Aid Directors to ensure seamless processing of financial aid documentation.

  • Keep current on federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures. Develop professionally by attending training, staff meetings, campus meetings, and reading professional web sites and publications.

  • Identify training and procedural needs for systemwide Financial Aid staff and alert the Financial Aid Directors of those needs. Facilitate ongoing training as needed. Develop thorough understanding of best practices in financial aid processing and train staff to implement those practices.

  • Bachelor's degree. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the degree.

  • Three years of experience processing federal, state, and institutional financial aid in Ellucian Banner.

Attributes that will contribute to success in this position:

  • Practiced in working as a primary liaison with IT to improve processes, test new instances, and evaluate outcomes as they relate to related to federal and state compliance.

  • Practiced in creating business processes and process guides for end-users.

  • Ability to explain technical processes to non-technical staff.

  • Knowledge of financial aid rules and regulations.

  • Strong technical and analytical skills.

  • Customer service and technical communication skills.

  • Ability to review current processes and recommend improvements for automation and efficiency.

  • In-depth understanding of Banner functionality and the ability to research issues using available Ellucian resources.

  • Ability to write Banner population selections and variables.

  • Supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Work Location/Travel Expectations:

  • Office position located at 9101 E Lowry Blvd, Denver, CO 80230.

  • Travel required for both in-state and out of state with some overnight.

  • Alternative Work Arrangements, including flexible schedules and remote work, may be available. All work must be completed in the state of Colorado.
