  • Time and project management skills with experience managing web-based projects from conception to requirements through execution and release

  • Strong technical knowledge of underlying internet technologies as they relate to SEO, tracking and digital marketing specifically modern HTML semantics, metadata and utilization of content management systems.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing/communications or related area.

  • Five years of professional experience in digital marketing or digital strategy-specifically working with web analytics, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, and lead conversion.

Preferences:

  • Experience with Salesforce.

  • Google Analytics and/or Google Ads certifications.

Each year, JHU Homewood undergraduate and graduate students receive more than $300 million in financial aid from federal, state, institutional and private sources. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Associate Director is a member of the management team within the Office of Student Financial Services. As a collaborative group, they work closely with the Director and are responsible for the development and implementation of policies, procedures and communication plans to ensure that Office and University wide goals are successfully met. The Associate Director, Financial Aid Communications and Digital Strategy is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive financial aid communications strategy, with a sharp focus on our message of access and affordability. This position plays a key role in ensuring the digital presence and materials are clear, consistent, cohesive, integrated, and aligned with the mission of Financial Aid across all digital channels, including websites, social media platforms, email, and chat bots. The Associate Director, Financial Aid Communications and Digital Strategy will liaise with other key stakeholder offices to identify communications opportunities as new initiatives are conceived, developed and launched. S/he will have one direct report (Sr. Assistant Director, Financial Aid Communications). Specific Duties & Responsibilities: * Develop and implement a multi-channel communications strategy that enhances user engagement, access to resources, effectively tells the Hopkins financial aid story of affordability to target audiences (including students, parents, high school counselors), and includes metrics and assessment opportunities to measure impact and effectiveness. * Ensure messaging is uniform, cohesive, integrated, personalized to target audience, and aligned with institutional objectives. * Oversee the Financial Aid content management for the Homewood Financial Aid website, Net Partner Portal, Slate Portal, and Student Information System Portal. * Manage the office's third party relationship with an outside call center vendor, including issue escalation, messaging updates, service levels. Assesses performance through surveys and call sampling. * Develop talking points, messaging, and presentations for staff. * Guide the office strategy for social media messaging, ensuring compliance with established university and divisional guidelines. * Produce high-quality, written deliverables, such as messaging toolkits, social media strategies, video content, and advocacy communications. * Leverage data from in person visits, e-mail inquiry and phone calls to inform communication decisions. Minimum Qualifications (mandatory): * Bachelor's degree in communications, writing or similar field or the equivalent of training and experience required from a regionally accredited college or university. * A minimum of four years related professional communications experience required. Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree preferred. * Previous experience working in higher education, including exposure to admissions and financial aid preferred. Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Exceptional writing and editing skills including development and copy-editing, along with ability to shape and improve content for multiple target audiences. * Ability to think critically and develop strategic messaging, including experience developing media strategies. * Familiarity with online communications platforms and content management. * Clear understanding of how multimedia content—such as photos, videos and animated graphics—can and should be used across the digital landscape, including ideas for innovative uses that drive engagement. * Knowledge of best practices for analytics, content strategy, search engine optimization, and usability/user experience; solid understanding of WCAG 2.0 guidelines to ensure accessibility of web content. * Familiarity with a variety of social media tools and the metrics that drive success within those tools * Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural responsiveness, and the ability to work in a diverse, matrixed organization; the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. * Sophisticated understanding of today's digital landscape, including new and emerging technologies and platforms as well as usage trends among undergraduate and graduate students. * Ability to work effectively under deadlines and simultaneously juggle several assignments. * Flexibility in dealing with a very diverse culture, and commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population. * Experience using content management systems, such as WordPress, and other tools for editing and publishing web content. * Knowledge of HTML/CSS. * Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) a plus.
