Associate Director of Development, Mount Sinai West

Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) seeks a development professional to expand its development program and grow philanthropic revenue at Mount Sinai West (MSW) as part of the overall Mount Sinai Health System Campaign. The successful candidate will identify and maintain a portfolio of prospects that capitalizes on current and emerging opportunities for support. The Associate Director of Development will work closely with key physicians and administrative leaders at Mount Sinai West.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • The Associate Director will work closely with the Executive Director, supporting all aspects of major gift fundraising including: identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors.

  • Create and closely monitor a strategic philanthropy plan for MSW with input from key stakeholders including the EDOD, President of MSW, Site Department Chairs, and other leadership at MSW.

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a personal portfolio of 100 150 individual prospects at the leadership annual and major gifts levels.

  • Solicit major gifts for the strategic philanthropic priorities of Mount Sinai West and the MSHS.

  • Manage the coordination of all fundraising activities for MSW with MSHS central development office, including direct mail, corporation and foundation giving, planned giving, events, stewardship, research, and gift processing.

  • Guide efforts to build greater links with physicians, grateful patients, and other stakeholders.

  • Partner with internal contacts including leadership, faculty, and Development staff to maximize fundraising for MSW.

  • Evaluate various gift opportunities and giving vehicles and recommend the most suitable for a particular donor. Develop, write and present proposals appropriate to donor's interest and financial situation.

  • In collaboration with Stewardship and Events colleagues, plan and execute events to cultivate, educate and steward major donors and prospects.

  • Identify, recruit, and solicit top level volunteers to help with philanthropic outreach and serve in an advisory capacity to the MSW leadership team.

  • Promote a culture of philanthropy at MSW by partnering with and training physicians, faculty, and other staff.

  • Establish and meet activity and revenue goals.

  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards.

  • Demonstrate exemplary customer service in all exchanges.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required. CFRE designation, Masters of Fundraising, or other advanced degree preferred.

  • Ideal Candidates will have at least 5 years of direct fundraising experience, preferably in sophisticated and complex organizations. He/she will have demonstrated success in raising six figure gifts, and have in- depth knowledge of all aspects of a comprehensive development operation. The ideal candidate will show evidence of setting and achieving goals, and will have a successful track record of working with internal and external constituents, as well as volunteer and committee management.

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in academic medical setting and /or complex nonprofit fundraising environment and have experience with capital campaigns and volunteer management.

  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge or other Fundraising related databases

POSITION SUMMARY: To perform complex clerical duties requiring independent judgment relating to the storage, retrieval and maintenance of medical records. Performs clerical work requiring application of various work methods and procedures and familiarity with Medical Record Department functions, policies, and practices. Is responsible for providing service to the patients/customers of the Hospital Center. Is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Medical Record Department and the Hospital Center. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates the ability to perform technical/service/clerical tasks: * Retrieve medical records for all requestors and prints necessary documents from appropriate medical record systems (Epic, OnBase, PRISM, hardcopy charts, other) * Receives, checks, edits, assembles, analyzes, sorts (alphabetically or numerically) * Scans medical record documentation into OnBase in accordance with department policies and procedures. * Scans documents and reports into the Epic EMR, OnBase Document Imaging/Records Management system. Performs point of care scanning functions on the nursing units and post discharge scanning once the chart has been received in the HIM Department. * Indexes records and information through manual or automatic indexing; assigns document types and reviews hard copy documents that have been captured during scanning. * Performs quality control verification for departmental processes and systems including Performance Improvement and Quality Control review in accordance with Hospital Policies and Procedures. * Reviews Stockamp/Trac requests daily and facilitates delivery of medical record copies to the Patient Financial Services Department. * Reviews audit requests from internal and external requestors and facilitates delivery of medical record copies to requestors. * Responds to requests for information from third party requesters (physicians, insurers, attorneys, courts of law, etc.) including subpoenas. * Performs photocopying of complete medical records and medical record abstracts for requesters. * Utilizes departmental systems, including META-chart tracking, Eagle Information System, EPIC EMR, QUIC Lists, OnBase, MModal transcription/dictation System, CIOX correspondence, etc., to locate, maintain and update information required to perform duties. * Facilitates delivery of medical record copies by hardcopy or electronic methods. * Works with the CIOX, the MSHS ROI vendor to ensure prompt completion and delivery of medical record copies to requestors. * Performs research to efficiently merge EMR and hard copy medical records and demographic data as required to ensure visit history information is the same as information in the Eagle registration system. * Receives, sorts and routes incoming mail, as required. * Provides front desk and telephone coverage and may act as receptionist or as backup for another member of the clerical staff. * Performs medical record analysis using Epic reports and system applications to monitor/track deficient and delinquent medical records. * Responds to inquiries regarding deficiencies, documentation requirements and physician assignment. * Facilitates completion of deficient and delinquent medical records by monitoring of Epic reports, 3M reports, Epic EMR documents, and communication with medical staff membership regarding their respective chart completion status. * Works with the Coding Managers to obtain pathology reports, operative reports and other incompletes documents to facilitate final coding of medical records when accounts have been placed on hold due to incomplete charting. * Tracks dictation sent to and received from transcription service including MMODAL and Epic error queue. * Verifies and validates transcription services reports. * Provides daily productivity and statistical information to supervisor/manager. * Maintains established hospital/departmental/unit policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. * Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment, including reporting systems problems to Help Desk and/or appropriate departmental staff. * Attends meetings as required, including in-service education meetings. * Provide excellence in customer service including answering telephones promptly and courteously and in email communications. * Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI). * Other duties as assigned.
