We believe that part of fan service means we're always listening, learning, and engaging, which is why we're looking for a new Associate Director of Communications who can help us take our passion for our community of fans to the next level.

The Associate Director of Communications will be instrumental in forging an even deeper relationship with our global community of players, oversee the day-to-day publication of social content across a multitude of communications platforms.

We are looking for someone who can be a trusted advisor in bringing our vision, values, and goals to life with our community. They should understand the game development process and have a proven track record in the realms of traditional public relations, social media, social monitoring/analytics, community management, and content creator/influencer relations. Additionally, will be a people manager, who possesses the ability to manage multiple projects against demanding deadlines.

Candidates should be adaptable, anticipatory, and results-oriented; exert influence without always having authority; and easily switch gears from high-level strategy-setting to hands-dirty execution.

The Associate Director of Communications will be responsible for the development and execution of studio-wide and franchise communications goals, key metrics, strategy, and plans by which their success will be measured. This role will work within the studio comms team, and partner with the broader communications team at Activision.

What you'll do…

  • Develop the studio and game communication strategy and key messaging, and ensure all public facing communications are on point.

  • Ideate, create, and help execute campaigns across our spectrum of digital and social platforms to inform, engage, and grow our community of players. In the realm of social media and community management, you will have a great deal of latitude to bring new ideas to the table.

  • Serve in a highly collaborative role, helping to bridge development, community and comms/marketing audiences across a variety of channels and spaces.

  • Work with our LiveOps team, Player Support, Brand, Social, and Analytics teams for live game communications, issue identification, management and support, as well as community initiatives.

  • Assist with the creation of key messaging and FAQs.

  • Write. A Lot. You will engage with our community fans on behalf of the studio and its games in relevant online forums, as well as blog posts.

  • Serve as an active participant in our monitoring/analytics activities, helping to contribute to our greater understanding of community needs.

  • Work directly with members of the Franchise, Studio Communications team, and the development team to prioritize and the information needed to keep the community informed.

  • Work with brand, PR, Player Support, and a range of other cross-functional teams to help ensure the highest quality content.

  • Travel. You can't be of-the-people if you don't get out. Come with an updated passport in hand for key events / times of year.

  • Additionally, there will be the need to work flexible hours with the nature of the communications space.

To succeed you should have…

  • A Proven Track Record in a Relevant Industry: The ideal candidate has at least 10+ years of experience, preferably in gaming, entertainment, or technology in global or multi-market companies and is experienced in change management, cool under fire, and familiar with the industry's latest tools and tactics.

  • Passion for Communications: You are a student of the game, always studying, always learning, always looking at how you can take what others have done and one-up it, telling stories across different types of media platforms and experiences for maximum impact.

  • A Strategic, Subject-Matter Expert: You possess a deep understanding of communications, social media management tools and platforms, and how to leverage them to cultivate our community of fans. You understand how to pick the right kinds of conversations that drive the most impact - you see the bigger picture and know how to use the tools at your disposal to get there.

  • A Multi-tasker: Working in the studio environment is a very entrepreneurial one and demands the need to be proactive and self-motivated in a team-focused environment. You can work individually or in a team environment, while balancing simultaneous projects.

  • A Collaborator: You have an understanding of how communications teams work, and how the development and publishing environments functions, enabling you to navigate effectively to achieve a desired outcome.

  • A Gamer at Heart: A knowledge of Call of Duty and Treyarch games is expected, but you are more than any single game - you love playing all kinds of games. Of course, deep franchise knowledge is a huge plus.

  • A Bachelor's degree in communications, media studies, and/or journalism.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $99,520.00 - $184,240.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
