This pivotal role encompasses coordinating weekly chapel services, hosting services, preaching, and integrating global chapel initiatives with the seminary's worship vision. The ideal candidate embodies a profound dedication to Christian service, combining administrative prowess with pastoral sensitivity to significantly contribute to the seminary community's spiritual formation.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Chapel Office Oversight:*
  • Efficiently manage the chapel office's day-to-day operations to ensure seamless administration and coordination of chapel-related activities. * Cultivate a team-oriented environment, providing leadership and support to the chapel office team and volunteers. * Oversee the recruitment and selection of student workers and chapel interns, enhancing their development and involvement in chapel services. * Lead efforts in chapel program assessments, including the Formation Questionnaire and focus groups, to foster continuous improvement. * Ensure proper care of the chapel spaces, including furnishings, vestments, and sacramental elements. * Manage copyright licensing for chapel materials, ensuring compliance and access to diverse worship resources. * Represent the Dean of Chapel and/or the chapel office in various meetings, effectively communicating the chapel office's vision. * Contribute to the leadership of weekly chapel staff meetings, promoting clear communication and strategic alignment with the seminary's mission. * Weekly Chapel Service Coordination:*
  • Collaboratively plan and execute the logistics for weekly chapel services, ensuring a consistent and impactful worship experience. * Host chapel services, fostering a welcoming atmosphere that encourages participation and spiritual engagement. * Deliver sermons periodically, offering theological insights that nurture the community's faith and understanding. * Pastoral Care:*
  • Provide pastoral care to students, staff, faculty, and their families with discernment and confidentiality. * Act as a resource for spiritual guidance, facilitating a supportive environment that nurtures faith and well-being among the seminary community. * Provide counsel and make referrals for professional counseling as appropriate, working in close collaboration with the Community Formation team to ensure a holistic approach to care. * Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, adhering strictly to ethical guidelines and mandatory reporting obligations, while providing a safe space for individuals to share and seek guidance. * Organize and participate in initiatives aimed at promoting spiritual growth and emotional health within the community, including workshops, retreats, and support groups, as needed or assigned by the Dean of Chapel and in conjunction with Community Formation and/or Global Formation. * Global Chapel Involvement:*
  • Act as a key liaison between the Chapel Office and the Global Formation department, ensuring a cohesive and integrated approach to worship across all seminary Global educational sites. * Provide strategic insights and guidance to enhance the theological depth, cultural diversity, and spiritual vitality of Global chapel services, aligning them with the seminary's overarching worship vision. * Regularly collaborate with the Director of Global Formation, participating in monthly meetings to discuss initiatives, share insights, and coordinate efforts aimed at enriching the Global student experience. * Contribute to the selection of speakers and worship leaders for Global chapel services in collaboration with the Director of Global Formation, ensuring they embody the theological integrity, cultural sensitivity, and pastoral wisdom that align with Asbury Theological Seminary's values and standards. * Plan and execute an annual trip to a Global educational site to preach at a Global chapel and meet with the Director of Global Formation, focusing on continuous improvement in Global chapel services. * Initiate and oversee projects that bridge the gap between local and global worship experiences, fostering a sense of unity and shared mission among diverse seminary populations. This may include virtual worship exchanges, collaborative worship planning, and cross-cultural ministry training sessions. * In collaboration with the Director of Global Formation, evaluate feedback for Global chapel services, allowing for regular assessment and responsive adjustments to worship practices, in order to continually elevate the spiritual formation and global engagement of the seminary community.Qualifications: * Has a love for seminary students and the opportunity to pour into their lives as they prepare for effective kingdom work in the Church, the academy, the counseling office, the workplace, and beyond. * Strong commitment to the Christian faith and adherence to the Wesleyan theological tradition. * Readily embraces and lives a life fully compatible with the Ethos Statement and mission statement of Asbury Theological Seminary, including the institution's commitment to the authority of Scripture. * Master's degree required; MDiv preferred. * More than three years of experience in worship planning and oversight and pastoral ministry, or other relevant experience. * Ordination credentials, or currently in the process of pursuing them. * Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills (oral and written). * Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment. * Proficiency in modern office and worship technology, including but not limited to: Computer, Google Documents, Planning Center Online, Excel and other spreadsheet applications, CCLI, and social networking.Other Responsibilities: * Engage in ongoing professional and spiritual development, as approved by the Dean of Chapel and in line with the vision of the chapel office and the greater Formation Team. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of the Chapel.Tools & Equipment: * Standard office and worship technology.Qualifications
