Job Description
General Scope of Duties
Plan and implement student recruitment strategies in the Southwest region of the United States to help Connecticut College achieve enrollment goals; assume responsibility for planning and coordinating specific Southwestern U.S. admission programs and projects; represent the College to college counselors, community-based organizations, alumni, prospective students and their families across assigned territories. Recruitment territory to include: TX, OK, NM, AZ, CA (southern). Other territories that may be included: NV, UT, CO, LA, AR, MO, KS
This is a remote position. Preference will be given to candidates based in states within the recruitment territory.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Represent the College and provide information and counseling to prospective students, families, counselors and others interested parties in the Southwest through interviews, group presentations, and phone and email communications
Meet, virtually, with associates, directors and the dean on a regular basis to assist in planning and implementing student recruitment strategies
Work to develop new recruitment programs and strategies to enhance prospect development, applicant conversion and yield of admitted students in the Southwest
Maintain and increase the selectivity, quality and diversity of the applicant pool and matriculants from the Southwest through a variety of recruitment and yield activities
Review applications individually and in committee settings, recommend candidates for admission, and serve on admission selection committees
Prepare annual statistical and area reports including appropriate recommendations or conclusions
Interpret educational policy and institutional mission of the College to perpetuate its intellectual quality
Participate in professional admissions associations
Education and Skills
Requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in the liberal arts
Requires a minimum of 5 years of admission or college counseling experience
Ability to work independently and remotely
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to engage with diverse audiences and connect with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences
Ability to make clear and concise presentations
Ability to create and execute innovative admission programs
Excellent attention to detail, and strong computer skills
Ability to build and sustain key relationships with staff, students, alumni and Southwestern U.S. contacts
Excellent organization skills and ability to set priorities and keep to deadlines
A growth mindset and willingness to continually develop knowledge, skills, and competencies
Extensive travel required (10-12 weeks per year)
Valid Driver's License required
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Driving Required Yes Salary Range $58,000 - $73,000 Covid Vaccine Information
