In this position you will be reporting to the General Manager Oakville site. As the Surface Finishing Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing oversight, expertise and leadership to the processing functions and future strategic development and planning within the Landing Gear sites. The position will manage the process engineering team and partner with cross-functional groups and lead large projects within the surface finishing area to improve productivity, quality and delivery performance. The role requires an in-depth technical knowledge of surface finishing/plating and special processes.
Provide expert advice and leadership to the plating processes within the Landing Gear sites.
Provide oversight, expertise and future strategic and operational development and planning.
Provide technical support to the business where needed and directed by the GM - Oakville.
Establish, execute and manage multiple project plans within the processing area and potentially key suppliers to meet the commitments of the sites.
Identify and evaluate new technologies that will enhance the performance of the plating function.
Provide leadership to direct reports, establish goals for direct reports and regularly review performance.
Take an active role in identifying training needs, nurturing, coaching, challenging and developing both direct and indirect reports in their positions for future opportunities.
Coordinate with EHS to ensure that all processes are compliant and operator & site safety is secured.
Develop and implement continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Drive a lean manufacturing culture across the sites.
Resolve near term and long term issues to improve operational performance and utilization
Drive change and improvements to positively impact overall quality, productivity and flow of parts.
