We are seeking a highly effective Associate Director, Manufacturing Operations Lead to work in this exciting new area of cancer immunotherapy. The Manufacturing Operations Lead will report into the Sr. Director of the Manufacturing Operations and represent Manufacturing Operations on a multi-disciplinary New Product Technical Operations Team through commercialization and life cycle management activities of our immunotherapy products. This person is responsible for developing and executing the manufacturing strategy for the specific Technical Operations programs associated with overall product strategy that is highly focused on new assets as they transition from research through clinical development.

The Manufacturing Operations Lead will represent Manufacturing as a key member on the Technical Operations Team, and collaborate cross-functionally with other Technical Operations Team members. The Manufacturing Operations Lead provides an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing processes and ensures all aspects of Manufacturing are carefully considered cross-functionally as part of the program commercialization strategy. Using program management tools, the Manufacturing Operations Lead will be responsible for maintaining alignment with the Technical Operations Team on Manufacturing timelines and deliverables. The Manufacturing Operations Leader reports out regularly on status of Technical Operations Team goals, deliverables, and timelines and proactively escalates issues with action plans. As this position is a key interface with internal and external stakeholders, strong communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Manufacturing at the Technical Operations Team and collaborate cross-functionally with other Team members.

  • Act as an advocate for the Operations Team and assist with achieving overall goals and setting strategy for new products and programs.

  • Ensure alignment of the Operations Team on Manufacturing timelines and deliverables.

  • Ensure Manufacturing Operations Leadership is informed of the Operations Team goals, deliverables, timelines and issues/action plans.

  • Implement Operations strategy for the program.

  • Actively participate in, and facilitate decision making.

  • Provide input into the Technical Operations governance gate reviews.


  • Bachelor's Degree required, ideally with a focus in science, operations, or engineering.
  • 7-10 years of related biotechnology/pharmaceutical professional experience, with a minimum of 4 years of Manufacturing leadership experience in leading teams, projects, or programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Science or Engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience in the biotechnology/ pharmaceutical industry including leadership roles (e. g., team leadership or functional leadership roles) in Manufacturing or a key Operations functions (e. g., Process Development, Quality, Supply Chain).

  • Additional diverse assignments in Operations support (Program Management, Planning, Compliance, Engineering, etc.) and ex-Ops functions (Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development, etc.).

  • Knowledgeable of pharmaceutical product commercialization and life cycle management with a focus on early phase clinical development.

  • Ability to recognize strategic implications of complex product development activities and effectively manage them cross-functionally.

  • Ability to collect, digest and communicate information through relevant business analyses to influence decision-making.

  • Ability to communicate vertically and horizontally through multiple channels, leverage contact network to motivate diverse teams, and enable cross-functional collaboration.

  • Advanced management skills, including the ability to identify and execute strategic initiatives, manage multiple projects, prioritize project resources, and assess project effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Ability to manage in a matrix environment.

  • Proven functional or team leadership skills and proven management by influence.

  • Excellent presentation skills to different audiences.

  • Inspires trust and respect.
