Associate Director, IT R&D Lab Systems, is responsible for managing the Gene Therapy Research and Development (R&D) laboratories. The Associate Director, IT Lab Manager will serve as the IT Service Owner for all lab software, systems, and tools and be the primary IT point of contact for the Research and Translational Sciences teams. The position will be accountable for ownership, management, and support of R&D and Gene Therapy lab information management systems, including lab instruments, LIMS, ELN, data management and data analysis systems.As the IT Service Owner , this individual will translate the functions' needs into IT solutions, guide the implementation of new and upgraded systems and tools, and manage ongoing maintenance activities. This position will follow the internal IT Computer Systems Validation (CSV) and Change Control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all system implementations, enhancements, and changes. The position requires experience implementing and managing GxP systems and instruments.As the Service Owner for the labs, this position will manage a budget of over $1M. This position will report to the Director of IT R&D, and provide monthly reviews of the IT laboratory service. Service reviews will include reporting of financials, key performance indicators, and upcoming activities.The ideal candidate will have, at a minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Science or a related field. The preferred candidate will also have 5+ years of relative experience managing IT systems in biotech, pharmaceuticals, medical device, diagnostic, management consulting or other relevant industry. Familiarity with laboratory software and cloud-based solutions to support the continually evolving scientific requirements of Translational Sciences is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as owner of all IT systems and tools used by the Gene Therapy labs * Develop IT R&D laboratory roadmaps and manage the project and enhancement portfolios * Understand the complexity and volume of biological data in order to identify relevant IT solutions * Define, develop and implement effective IT systems release cycles * Analyze and evaluate IT system requirements for identified solutions * Anticipate systems problems, develop multiple solutions, document the rationale, and secure business approval for solution implementation * Serve as a subject matter expert for configuration, implementation and ongoing support of solutions used in a laboratory environment for process development in both GxP and non-GxP environments * Provide technical day-to-day support and system administration for Research, Translational Sciences, and Gene Therapy systems * Create IT SOPs for system administration and train IT System Admins as needed * Manage vendor relationships for system implementations, licenses, maintenance and operations, and testing/validation * Ensure IT system availability and performance fulfill defined service level agreements * Maintain appropriate responsibility and user functionality within systems based on the segregation of duty rule-set and perform monitoring activities * Create and manage budget exceeding $1M* Travel between both the Cambridge and Woburn sites will be requiredTechnical Requirements and
