We have an immediate opening for an Associate Director, Health Media Relations to join our growing New York, NY office's media relations team.

APCO's Health team includes experienced health care experts with diverse backgrounds who, collectively, give the firm a comprehensive understanding of the industry. APCO and its professionals have played leading roles in virtually every major health care issue considered over the past few decades and our clients have included leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, provider societies, trade associations, health insurers, pharmacy benefit managers and medical device makers.

As an Associate Director, you will lead large workstreams and collaborate closely with colleagues at all levels and around the world on research, writing, media, and creative problem-solving. You'll often have the opportunity to work across disciplines, including corporate communication, crisis and issues, sustainability and corporate responsibility, media relations and stakeholder engagement, and digital/social media.


  • Performs day-to-day strategic communications account work, with assistance from more junior and senior colleagues, for our high profile, globally recognized clients

  • Independently manages large workstreams or single-stream clients, serving as account lead and/or primary point of contact with support and supervision, as needed

  • Manages client expectations, earning their respect, trust and confidence through proactive account management to successfully maintain and grow client relationships

  • Develops and manages project programming, including implementation plans, staffing plans, budgets, timelines and measurement/evaluation

  • Produces high-quality, client-ready written deliverables, such as press materials, messaging toolkits, social media strategies, and advocacy communications, often under tight deadlines

  • Leads media relations efforts, including cultivating relationships with media, drafting strategies, organizing press outreach, and more

  • Integrates digital and social media tactics with overall communications strategy and construct traditional and digital measurement deliverables upon request

  • Develop and distribute client materials including press releases and talking points


  • At least 7-10 years of experience in media relations, in-house or at an agency focused on health clients. Experience with complex science and biotech clients

  • Strong track record of media relations results including some established media relationships and an eagerness to build new relationships with key journalists and media outlets

  • An understanding of the changing media landscape and ability to think creatively about media strategy and outlets for both APCO's corporate and consumer accounts

  • Solid project management experience and a proven ability to manage multiple projects and client initiatives and teams of both junior and senior colleagues in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills, and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field

Position Overview: Siemens Mobility is seeking to hire a Global Media Relations Professional to balance the public affairs messaging with trade publications and the financial press for global mobility topics with a focus on top-tier U.K. and U.S. publications (Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New York Times, etc.). While coordinating with a global team, you will develop and pitch leadership strategies, activities, and content to improve our reach and positive impressions while reducing costs. You will handle the public affairs management related to U.S. Government policies that impact the Mobility business (U.S. state-of-infrastructure, trade policies, NAFTA, FRA mandates for rail and road technology compliance, U.S. manufacturing/jobs and Made in America compliance). We will also work to generate earned placements in targeted print and digital media platforms of Mobility executive's speakers, topics, and priority portfolio. Key Responsibilities: * Responsible for public and media relations initiatives and execution in support of global Mobility business and marketing goals * Responsible for issues monitoring and crisis communications in North America – and elsewhere for the mobility management team as part of a global team * Develop proactive content and publicity opportunities around thought leadership articles, industry trends, infrastructure challenges, etc. * Generate positive relationships with publishers, editors, government officials, etc. building demand for priority Mobility portfolio and serving as a media spokesperson * Build, train/counsel and mobilize an executive speakers' bureau * Lead media relations for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and significant employee population shifts, as part of a global team * In partnership with MO business and communications leaders, CC and Government Affairs, handle public affairs related to U.S. Federal policies impacting the Mobility business (ie.
