Oversee global media and public relations efforts, including developing a global media relations strategy and managing PR initiatives that include placements in print, broadcast and online media for the organization and its key executives
Create key messages and themes to best tell the client story and support the company's global marketing and business plans
Develop relationships with key reporters in business, consumer, and trade media
Manage press inquiries and interview requests, draft company responses in conjunction with company leadership, and conduct pitch calls
Create thought leadership plan and execute through a collaboration with key staff to develop robust content for placement in traditional and social media, including articles, blog posts, videos, infographics, tweets, etc.
Identify, coordinate and support speaking engagements for company executives
Prepare background documents, talking points and collateral materials for speaking engagements for global chairman; CEO; president and managing director of operations; and other key executives as required
Identify and monitor any emerging or current communications or reputational issues and manage company response in conjunction with company leadership
Manage internal awareness of media relations efforts to ensure regular information-sharing with staff
Oversee writing and distribution of company press releases and op/eds
Oversee the creation of strategic media lists, including familiarity with media database software
Review thought leadership pieces for content, tone, and grammar
Develop meaningful media KPIs based on outcomes versus outputs
Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of media and thought leadership results, including familiarity with media monitoring software
Serve as a member of the marketing team and contribute ideas; ensure that all deadlines are met, and participate in meetings and conference calls
Assist with planning and coordination of APCO events (client, sponsorship, internal management meetings and global retreats)
Conduct research and analyze issues that may impact special projects and company policies
Make recommendations to Senior Director of Global Marketing and Communication on special projects
Delegate and manage work of junior staff and follow-up on progress and completion; manage and conduct performance appraisals for designated staff; manage internal communications with project team and other staff; mentor junior staff
Be responsible for local and regional new business development; closely monitor health care-relevant trends and business/government issues and opportunities
Qualifications & Standards:
Undergraduate degree in related field essential and postgraduate qualification desirable
At least 6-8 years of relevant experience in a communications agency setting, consulting firm, corporation, industry association
In-depth knowledge of health communications and media; preferably in pharmaceutical, health insurance, biotech, lifesciences industries
