Associate Director, Global & US Patient Marketing CALD

Join bluebird bio's enthusiastic and collaborative team by contributing to the overall success of our novel gene therapy approach. This position reports to the Lenti-D global commercial lead and will be responsible for the creation and execution of global and US patient/caregiver disease awareness & product communications. Launch markets include EU, US and global CALD patients.

The role works closely with the Global and US Commercial team (Market Insights, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Operations, and Patient Advocacy), the European Commercial team, Program Management and the Clinical and Regulatory team to develop and execute clear, concise and actionable strategic and tactical plans to optimize the launch and commercial success of bluebird's innovative CALD Gene Therapy in Cerebral Andrenoleukodystrophy (CALD).

About the Role:

  • Contribute to the develop strategic and tactical plan in collaboration with the CALD global commercial lead and cross-functional commercial team

  • Lead message platform development to drive disease awareness and education efforts in CALD around unmet need and improved in time diagnosis

  • Develop patient and caregiver messages

  • Design and implement multi-channel communications and programs

  • In preparation for approval and launch, design and create disease education materials to be utilized in the US and adapted in local EU markets

  • Liaise with global market research team to define objectives to understand and provide insights into launch efforts as it relates to the US & global market landscape for CALD

  • Partner with bluebird patient services to identify and address the needs of patient and caregivers of boys with ALD and CALD

  • Lead competitive and best practice efforts to keep the team current on emerging trends for patient and caregiver engagement

  • Lead strategy and content for patient and caregivers across channels with a focus on digital

  • Support the adaption of bluebird gene therapy messaging and materials for CALD patients/caregivers bring bluebird's science to life in a way that is accessible and easily understood

  • Liaise with EU marketing team to coordinate execution and ensure local insights are integrated into global materials/ core brand assets

  • Manage agency partners on market research efforts, creation of marketing materials, and channel strategy for optimal execution of communication materials

  • Shepard disease awareness and marketing materials through the medical, regulatory, legal review process, and integrate feedback accordingly to ensure compliant execution

  • Manage (in partnership with Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, and Patient Advocacy) and provide strategy support for external engagement efforts with key opinion leaders, the patient community, and other relevant stakeholders such as our qualified treatment centers

  • Manage timelines, budgets, and resources: includes ensuring timelines, budget, and resources square up to commercial and corporate objectives

About You:

  • Bachelors degree in a life science; MBA, or advanced degree, preferred

  • 6-8 years experience with a mix of strategic and executional experience. A combination of US & global is preferred

  • Patient marketing experience is required

  • Must be able to see and communicate the big picture from lots of data and information and drive to actionable insights

  • Experience in high science, competitive market required

  • Product launch experience preferred

  • Experience in diseases identified through new born screening preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully drive a project to completion

  • Excellent organizational skills, sufficient to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with changing priorities

  • Enthusiasm for working closely with R&D team members in a high-science environment

  • Solutions-oriented, strong analytical and presentation skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • This position is based in Cambridge with 10-20% travel

Here, everyone matters and you will be a vital contributor to our inspiring, bold mission: As an Associate Medical Director working on the GPSE team, you will be empowered to implement safety-related activities for our robust portfolio of global/regional products, and a typical day will include: OBJECTIVES: Responsible for the leadership and oversight of a therapeutic area and management of physicians who serve as the Global Safety Leaders (GSL) for both developmental and marketed compounds in designated therapeutic area. The Associate Medical Director will also act as the GSL for one or more products. The Senior Medical Director will interact with and influence other TDC departments (Clinical Operations, Regulatory affairs, Analytical Science, Clinical Science, etc.) to ensure the successful development, design and implementation of comprehensive safety assessment protocols for both developmental and marketed products. The SMD will oversee signal detection and risk management activities in the assigned therapeutic area and ensure that development plans include comprehensive safety assessment plans. The Senior Medical Director will be a key player in the preparation and presentation of materials to the Safety Board and similar forums. ACCOUNTABILITIES: * In conjunction with VP Global Medical Safety/Executive Medical Director, will lead and direct the interpretation of safety data from internal and external studies.
