Overview

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shifts

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Associate Director is a key member of the Foundation Relations team, responsible for supporting the hospital's efforts to build strong philanthropic relationships with local, regional and national private foundations and public charities.

This fundraiser identifies and evaluates prospects, writes proposals, LOIs and other solicitation materials, and provides a high-level of stewardship to current donors through quality written reports, donor meetings and related communications. The successful candidate builds strong relationships hospital-wide and with institutional prospects to secure funding in the $10K-$300K range. Reporting to the Associate Senior Vice President of Foundation Relations, the fundraiser manages a portfolio of 60+ institutional prospects and will contribute to a dynamic team supporting the hospital's mission, vision and goals.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 3+ years professional experience in a nonprofit setting in philanthropy, academia, or other relevant experience, preferably in a university or research institution.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Skilled in building meaningful and sustained relationships with donors that maximize the potential for philanthropic support.

  • Develop and implement strategies to engage donors based on their interest and in alignment with the hospital's mission and priorities.

  • Proven record securing gift commitments from institutional donors, both locally and nationally.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including outstanding writing, editing, proofreading and presentation abilities.

  • Ability to produce compelling and tailored proposals that convey a clear plan of action and strategic goals.

  • Strong ability to think strategically and creatively with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment with the skills to organize, prioritize and manage a high-volume of projects to successful completion.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of fundraising and philanthropy.

  • Experienced using a donor database.

  • Experienced working independently, taking the initiative as a self-starter, or collaboratively as required.

  • Highly motivated individual with the drive to achieve and exceed ambitious fundraising goals.

  • Proven success in proposal writing, budget development and grants management experience.

Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in English, journalism, or another writing-focused field. Master's degree preferred.

Pay Scale Information

$61,360.00-$110,573.00

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
