Associate Director for Housing Assignment Services

Coastal Carolina University seeks applications for the positions of Associate Director for Housing Assignment Services for the Department of University Housing.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees software system modifications, tests innovations and upgrades, extrapolates data, and develops and implements multifaceted reporting functions for StarRez.

  • Oversees University Housing applications, license agreements, room assignments, and meal plans.

  • Leads the implementation, training, management, and use of the housing software solution, including card access systems.

  • Supervises full-time Assistant Director for Housing Assignment Services, Two (2) Housing Assignment Services Managers, Customer Service Specialist and student staff.

  • Advises and oversees departmental staff regarding software usage, troubleshooting, system modifications and process management.

  • Provides expertise regarding the integration and use of various software applications for Auxiliary Enterprises.

  • Plans, prepares, and assigns fees, waivers, charges, and other student account components.

  • Develops and manages a comprehensive communication plan for University Housing.

  • Designs, develops and implements the website for University Housing that serve as effective marketing tools for capturing and building student interest in the institution and improving the image of the University.

  • Develops, reviews, recommends, and evaluates policies, procedures, programs, and manuals aimed at improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, productivity, and workflow.

Requirements: A master's degree and experience utilizing housing software (e.g.

StarRez, RMS, etc.) is required. A successful candidate must have five (5) years of full-time employment in a college or university setting, as well as have a valid driver's license and acceptable three (3) year driving record. A master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field, experience as a power-user for a housing software solution (e.g.

StarRez, RMS, etc.), and proficiency with SQL code writing and development are preferred.

Student Services Manager II (CB80/61121826/FTE-S01013P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 07.

Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree and experience utilizing housing software (e.g., StarRez, RMS, etc.). Five-years of full-time employment in a college or university setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education or related field. Experience as a power-user for a housing software solution (StarRez, RMS, etc.). Proficiency with SQL code writing and development.

Licensure and/or Certification

Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable three (3) year driving record.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures in University Housing assignments, operations, and communication including a working knowledge of best practices as outlined by the Association of College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-I). Must be able to configure and modify software systems, test innovations and upgrades, extrapolate data, and complete multifaceted reporting functions (e.g., StarRez, RMS, Colleague, Ellucian, CBORD, Power Bi, etc.). Must be able to exercise judgments and discretion, establish and maintain effective working relationships, understand financial framework of assignment processes, interpret and apply applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and communicate effectively in writing, orally, and in presentations and customer service settings with various stakeholders.

Additional comments regarding this position

Employee may be required to travel to professional development conferences requiring overnight stay. This position will work in a typical office environment with occasional need to work in the evenings and weekends at the direction of the supervisor.
