The Center for Fraternity & Sorority Life is seeking an Associate Director. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Associate Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life provides management, supervision and operation support to the Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life within the Center for Fraternity & Sorority Life (CFSL). This role has essential responsibilities for advancing the functions of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Oregon State University, with a focus on advising two to three of the governing councils and individual fraternities and sororities, and other fraternity/sorority registered student organizations. Fraternity and Sorority Life at OSU is vibrant and requires the support and commitment of an Associate Director to support current initiatives, implement new efforts, and continue to grow and develop the fraternity/sorority community to live up to the highest principles and ideals upon which their organizations were founded. As the OSU Fraternity and Sorority Community continues to grow to over 2700+ students, we recognize the need to re-envision support and care for this community of students.

The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the community and providing leadership as it strives to fully realize this potential. The Associate Director helps to enhance strong campus-wide relationships of support for the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life (CFSL), and is a contact and a liaison for external constituents to include (but not be limited to): Fraternity and Sorority alumni/alumnae, local and regional boards, and national organizations, Corvallis community organizations, and local police and fire department officials. The Associate Director partners in supporting the CFSL through education and outreach programs that advance and enhance the OSU Community.

Key Responsibilities

50% ADVISING, PROGRAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

  • Oversee assigned program areas within fraternity/sorority life. This will include areas such as diversity, equity and inclusion, education and leadership, academic success, risk reduction and management, among others.

  • Provide advisory support and oversight to assigned governing councils (2-3), including facilitating compliance with applicable rules and policies.

  • Provide advisory support and oversight to assigned chapters and interest groups, including facilitating compliance with applicable rules and policies.

  • Advise the All University Sing Board and provide support for ongoing Sing Activities

  • Participate actively and provide leadership in all CFSL team projects, meetings and events.

20% OUTREACH

  • Support 2 - 3 governing councils in recruitment and membership intake initiatives.

  • Design, establish, and facilitate a long-term approach to supporting and advancing the fraternal experience at OSU

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate students and staff involvement with summer START engagement

  • Oversee the ongoing implementation and tracking of the Relationship Statement and related initiatives.

15% ANALYSIS & ASSESSMENT

  • Coordinate the preparation and analysis of assessment, reports and surveys regarding efforts related to CFSL.

  • Coordinate the annual Greek Awards program including the implementation of an awards and assessment program related to the Relationship Statement.

5% BUDGET & FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

  • Serve as a budget authority in the absence of the Director.

  • Assist in the annual creation and oversight of the unit's budget.

  • Coordinate the execution of an annual programming fee and other revenue opportunities.

10% LEAD WORK AND OTHER

  • Supervise the Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Life, undergraduate or graduate student employee(s) or undergraduate or graduate intern(s).

  • Participate in the Division of Student Affairs and Office of the Dean of Students Organizational programs, meetings, and activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

  • Master's degree in student affairs, education, or student services.

  • Affiliation with an inter/national social fraternal organization.

  • 4-6 years progressive professional work experience gaining requisite knowledge, skills and abilities pertaining to the position, specifically related to higher education, student development or leading fraternity/sorority life programs.

  • Demonstrated experience advising governing councils and/or Greek-letter organizations (in particular working with multicultural Greek Letter organizations such as NPHC, NALFO, NMGC, NAPA, etc.).

  • Basic knowledge with event planning, coordination and implementation of program activities.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • A demonstrable commitment and ability to promote and enhance diversity, and an ongoing development of multicultural competence in working with a diverse student body.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal issues in Higher Education and risk management practices.

  • Budget development and management experience.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
