Associate Director For Finance And Research Services

The Associate Director of Research Administration plays a pivotal role as the primary administrator overseeing sponsored research initiatives within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the A. James Clark School of Engineering, along with its affiliated units, the Maryland Transportation Institute (MTI) and the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology (CATT). Reporting directly to the Director of Operations within CEE, this position carries the responsibility of managing the entire lifecycle of sponsored projects, including pre- and post-award processes, financial oversight and reporting, compliance with sponsored research regulations, and coordination of effort reporting.

The Associate Director for Finance and Research Services will also help with forecasting and reconciliation on state and foundation accounts. Additionally, the Associate Director is tasked with generating data reports and spearheading special projects as needed in this area.

As an integral part of Team Civil, the Associate Director oversees the management of a substantial portfolio, coordinating an annual research expenditure of over $50 million from diverse funding sources (federal, state, corporate and foundation) for post-award activities. Supervisory duties entail leading a team of four exempt staff members distributed across CEE, MTI, and CATT who assist in research and financial pre and post award activities.
