Position Description:
Calico is seeking an experienced and passionate finance leader to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team. The Associate Director is primarily responsible for managing Calico's financial planning and reporting processes, providing finance partnering to several departments, and owning and optimizing our planning system. The Associate Director role will report to the Director of FP&A.
Primary Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Reporting:
Lead and oversee annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes across the company, including rolling updates as needed
Manage the company's financial planning cycle including maintaining a comprehensive calendar
Manage and deliver quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting, including budget, forecast, latest estimate and actual variance analysis
Oversee / maintain accuracy of financial results for designated departments
Business Partnering and Financial Analysis:
Be a strategic, insightful business partner to various parts of the organization, primarily R&D. Proactively develop and maintain effective relationships across functions & levels
Identify and drive cost efficiencies while meeting business goals
Provide modeling and analytical support for projects and strategic business decisions
Promote visibility and understanding of financial topics across the company
Systems and Other:
Own and optimize use of our planning tool, Workday Adaptive Planning. Represent FP&A in systems-related projects, such as evolving portfolio analysis tools
Gain a comprehensive knowledge of the company's operations in order to better support initiatives and recommendations to business partners
Identify and lead work to improve processes for efficiency while ensuring accuracy
Other duties as dictated by business needs
Position Requirements:
8+ years of relevant work experience with a track record of increasing levels of responsibility and influence. Pharmaceutical / biotech industry preferred
BA/BS required; MBA, CPA and/or consulting experience preferred
Expertise in R&D functional, project finance and collaborations preferred
Strong knowledge of accounting / financial / operational principles
Experience with Workday Adaptive or equivalent planning system
Superb collaboration skills, working effectively with people across all levels and functions of the organization. Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leaders preferred
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Results- and impact-driven; takes initiative and ownership to accomplish work and constantly up-level finance's contributions
Positive, proactive, and professional attitude
Ability to be accountable for multiple tasks and adapt in a changing and fast-paced environment
Detail oriented while being able to see the big picture
Experience with ERP systems. NetSuite preferred but not required
Must be willing to work onsite at least three days a week
The estimated base salary range for this role is $212,000 - $220,000. Actual pay will be based on a number of factors including experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for two annual cash bonuses.
