The Associate Director of Corporate Communications will assist the Global Head of Corporate Communications in the implementation of strategic, multi-faceted communications and engagement programs designed to relay the firm's direction and major priorities to all employees, increase employee engagement, and improve the overall culture of the firm.


  • Assist Head of Corporate Communications in the implementation of a strategic communications plan to support the organization's mission, goals and objectives.

  • Aid in the development, editing, and dissemination of communication materials

  • Assist in the coordination and execution of employee engagement events

  • Build and foster collaborative relationships with departments within the firm to drive employee awareness and engagement

  • Assist in creation and execution of pre-planned internal communications collateral. Specific responsibilities include establishing writing timetable, gathering, writing, and reviewing content, editing, working with design team, and dissemination to firm.

  • Serve as editor for communications materials

  • Prepare and track editorial calendars and annual summary reports of communication and engagement efforts.

Specifically, it includes these core service lines: QuantumBlack, McKinsey Technology (including Cloud by McKinsey), Leap by McKinsey, and McKinsey Design.</p><p>You will be an integral part of McKinsey Digital leading a global team of 20+ communications and publishing colleagues. You will report into McKinsey Digital's two global co-leaders along with daily collaboration with the practice's broader leadership team, the COO and practice management / client capabilities teams.</p><p>Functionally, you will be a member of the Global Communications &amp; Publishing team, working closely with the Global Director of Communications, Industries &amp; Client Capabilities. You will also work closely with firm media relations, publishing, brand, alliances &amp; acquisitions (A&amp;A), risk, and legal.</p><p>You will lead a large and diverse team with the overall goal to build our brand so that McKinsey becomes as known for Digital &amp; Technology as we are for Strategy. This will include developing and executing the global marketing communications strategy for the practice. You will also collaborate closely with practice leaders and our client capabilities teams to evolve the McKinsey Digital narrative and brand positioning to build greater credibility and confidence in our work.</p><p>This role is a true thought partner and advisor to McKinsey Digital leaders. You will bring rigorous thinking with effective influencing and coalescing skills that come through live and in writing. You will serve as a senior reputation and risk counselor to all McKinsey Digital leaders, adept at anticipating and navigating challenging situations with diplomacy. You will also coach and advise stakeholders across our core service lines and capabilities.</p><p>You must be a passionate people leader and embrace daily people management and development coaching with the ability to manage professional development needs and advocate for direct reports as needed.</p><p>In leading the team, you will champion effective external reputation efforts through storytelling, thought leadership, content marketing, media, client and recruiting events, institutional partnerships and brand. You will drive innovation, creativity and inspiration which involves building an internal culture to push boundaries, negotiate bespoke partnerships, and explore innovative forms of paid media across social media and other content channels. You will also keep a pulse on how McKinsey Digital is communicated by other practices and regions to ensure our messaging is compelling and part of a larger dialogue on the practice.</p><p>You will leverage marketing expertise to drive integrated campaign planning and blockbuster campaign themes across sectors and regions. You will bring creative thinking to cut through the noise of typical broadcast channels and consider more narrowcast opportunities and use data and metrics to modify communication messaging and approaches as needed. You will collaborate closely with firm communication colleagues, including internal communications, media relations, brand, publishing, social media, analyst relations, reputation risk, acquisitions &amp; alliances.</p><p>You will collaborate with McKinsey Digital's Internal Engagement Sr Manager to bring the practice to the firm and uncover opportunities to reach our internal communities, including sector and functional practices. This will include using the full range of firm resources and channels, tailoring messages and approaches to different audiences within the firm.</p><p>You will oversee acquisition communications on select McKinsey Digital-related transactions starting from early collaboration pre-launch up to the integration stage. This includes advising and collaborating with acquisition founders, practice leaders, A&amp;A team, legal, risk, HR, firm branding and multiple comms colleagues.</p><p>You will bring marketing operations experience to stay aligned (and opportunistic) on budget, quarterly metrics and critical KPIs. You will maintain an agile operating team model and uncover efficiencies related to external vendors, rotation opportunities, etc.</p><ul><li><p>University degree, advanced degree preferred (ideally in communications, journalism, business management or other relevant field)</p></li><li><p>15+ years' experience in strategic communications; with strong focus on external and internal communications. Experience in people management, brand management, thought leadership, content marketing, media relations, social media, analyst relations, negotiating partnerships, and/or marketing operations is preferred</p></li><li><p>Experience coaching partners (and next generation leaders) in media relations, speech coaching, analyst briefing, social media, etc.</p></li><li><p>Experience developing and growing a diverse and dynamic team.
