Annual Security Report Notice

Pace is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the students, faculty, staff and visitors to the University. In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the University's Safety and Security department publishes an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, which can be accessed here. The report contains information on security policies as well as crime and fire statistics for the University.

The Associate Director, Community Standards will oversee functions of the Pleasantville campus including residential and commuter students. The Associate Director's summary of responsibilities includes but are not limited to serving as the main conduct officer for campus violations according to the Student Handbook, Guide to Residential Life and University Guiding Principles. The Associate Director will oversee student conduct processes, enforcement, and record keeping in a consistent manner across both campuses in partnership with Senior Associate Dean for Students (PLV), oversee training staff on policies, incident report writing, and all related Community standards software. The Associate Director will also publish documents related to crisis management and policy enforcement within Residential Life while maintaining records related to judicial outcomes, crisis management, Alcohol & Other Drug interventions and Clery reporting. The Associate Director will also participate in campus-wide on-call responsibilities and crisis management for entire Pleasantville campus community.

This is a live on position. The Associate Director will be required to live on campus in order to participate in the on call rotation.

Position Duties

  • Monitor nightly duty reports and overnight incident report submissions to maintain up-to-date awareness of conduct issues in the residence halls and on campus; keep the Dean, Senior Associate Dean, and Director of Residential Life informed as appropriate.

  • Maintain situational awareness of conduct trends and issues in order to strategize staff approach and response.

  • Campus liaison for Guardian platform. Lead staff member in managing the Guardian database for conduct reporting, including crisis related reporting.

  • Work with the NYC counterpart to develop consistent standards across both campuses, in partnership with Senior Associate Deans, for all utilization of reporting tools and in confrontation skills during conduct process.

  • Train all residential professional and student staff in hearing process and skills.

  • Process charge letters.

  • Monitor conduct hearing outcomes and student compliance with outcomes.

  • Maintain conduct, crisis management, Alcohol and Other Drug, and Clery related data.

  • Continue to add to and develop assessment using predetermined metrics.

  • Work with staff to develop goals for conduct processes and staff development based on assessment, trends, and feedback on conduct from students and staff.

  • Develop metrics to assess student learning outcomes as related to conduct.

  • Assist University Dean for Students and Senior Associate Dean in supporting students in crisis.

  • Participate in campus-wide on-call responsibilities and crisis management for Residential Life.

  • Lead and help coordinate monthly campus First Alert meetings.

  • Serve on campus CARE team and attend meetings as needed.

  • Coordinate communication with various constituents (counseling, dean for students, academic administration, etc. ) as appropriate in response to students in crisis.

  • Serve as liaison with security and counseling center. Ensure infrastructure for management of crisis situations.

  • Work with Residential Life staff to follow up on violations of health and safety policies

  • Serve as a deputy Title IX investigator to investigate and resolve complaints of sexual misconduct or in other roles that support the University's Title IX processes regarding student-to-student Title IX complaints and mediation.

  • Service on university wide committees and attend University wide events.

  • Hear conduct cases for both NYC and PLV campuses.

  • Collaborate with AOD specialist to maintain sanctioning process and procedure for students in conduct process, and discuss trends across campus.

  • Work with the Center for Student Engagement to ensure policy violations are being addressed properly with student clubs and organizations.

  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, this position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs are individuals at the University who, because of their function at the University, have an obligation under the Clery Act to notify the University of alleged Clery Crimes that are reported to them in good faith, or alleged Clery Crimes that they may personally witness. CSAs will be required to complete training with respect to the Clery Act and the responsibilities of a CSA.

Supervision

Indirect supervision (in partnership with Director of Residential Life) of Resident Directors, and Graduate Assistants with regard to conduct hearings and process, as well as roommate mediation and other crisis management.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required; Master's in Student Personnel Administration or related field preferred.

  • At least 5 years of previous residential and/or student conduct experience or student organizational conduct.

  • Excellent organizational, administrative, management, communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office software.

  • Must have experience with (or strong computer skills) housing, and community standards software.

  • Must be able to professionally and appropriately respond to crises.

Work Hours

General work hours are Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm with additional hours as needed. At times, nights and weekends are required. In addition, the Associate Director (AD) will be required to take part in an on duty rotation with other senior staff members. Duty coverage is 24/7 providing night and weekend on call responsibilities for approximately 1,200-1,500 residential students. While on duty the AD is responsible for coming to campus to assist the Residence Director on duty with emergencies as they arise.
